疲れたランチ★ Red Fort Indian Restaurant

『レッド・フォート』インドレストランに行ったのは、少し前の土曜日。ひどい印象を受けブログに載せるつもりなかったのですが、まじまじさんがブログに載せてたので、私の体験をアップします。


"Red Fort Indian Restaurant": We went there several days ago for lunch on Saturday. We had a bad experience, so I did not plan to post it on my blog, but another blogger, "Majimaji" recently posted on her blog, so I decided to post my experience.

トーレンス南西にある店に土曜午後12時半ごろ到着。無人の店内。大声で呼んでやっとウエイターさん1名登場。
ランチバフェをやってるかと、『和風クーポン』の「バフェ2つで＄４オフ」のクーポンを取るかどうか確認。『ハイ、取ります。ランチバフェやってます。』との返事で席に着く。こんだけあいてるのに、バフェー料理そばの1番小さい2人用テーブルを勧められる。

We got there around 12:30 pm on Saturday. It's located in South West Torrance. Nobody was there. We kept saying, "Hello, is there anybody there?", and a waiter came out. I confirmed if they take the "Wafu Coupon" for "$4 off 2 Lunch Buffet" and "They have lunch buffet right now." The waiter confirmed on both, "Yes, we do." Although all the tables were available, the waiter insisted us to sit at the smallest table for two by the buffet food section.

バフェ割引券を使うためには、２つドリンクを購入しなければいけない、とオーナーが言ってる、とウエイターさんが云うので、ウエイターさんおすすめのホットインド茶を２つ注文。これは薬みたいで苦くイマイチでした。おかわりもできないし。アイスティーの方がよかったです。

The waiter came back and said, "The owner said you have to order 2 drinks to use the lunch buffet $4 off coupon." So we ordered 2 Indian Hot Tea that the waiter recommended. It tasted like medicine and horrible and non-refillable. We should have ordered regular Iced Tea!

バフェ料理の数々。カレーだけで10種類あります。その日のデザートはミルク入りタピオカとパパイヤの2種類のみでした。

There were at least 10 kinds of Curry. Desserts for that day was "Tapioca in Milk" and "Fresh Papaya", only 2 kinds.
卵カレー、ひよこ豆カレー、ほうれん草カレー、なすびカレーが美味しかったです。

I thought Egg Curry, Beans Curry, Spinach Curry, and Eggplant Curry were delicious.

ガーリックナン
Garlic Naan
あちこちのレビューでガーリックナンが美味しいとのことでそれを注文。ガーリック味がほとんどせず、超薄型。まあまあですが、それほど美味しいとは思いませんでした。
Several reviews mentioned their Garlic Naan was good, so we ordered Garlic Naan. It did not taste Garlic much and similar to Regular Naan and it was very thin! It was OK but we did not think it was that good.


タンドーリチキン
Tandoori Chicken
インド料理と云えばこれです。アルミ箔で覆ってあり、最初気づきませんでした。アルミ箔を外してお皿に１つ盛りました。ウエイターさんがすぐまたアルミ箔で覆ってました。これでは見落としそうです！柔らかい蒸し焼き鶏。
It's a well-known Indian cuisine. It was covered by Aluminum Foil, so I did not notice it first. I took a piece of it. The waiter covered it with Aluminum Foil again right away. I bet many customers don't notice this dish! It's soft Steam-smoked Chicken.


レンテルスープ小1カップと他料理合計2皿半食べてバフェ（食べ放題）終了しました。このスープはいかにも前の晩の残りで鍋の底にちょっとしかなく煮詰まり塩辛かったです。スープはこれ1種類。午後1時10分過ぎてやっと2人来て、1時半過ぎに2-3人組みが3組きました。
I had a small cup of Lentil Soup and two and a half Plates and finished the Lunch Buffet (All-You-Can-Eat). Soup was only one kind. The Lentil Soup looked like a left-over from the night before. There was only a little bit of it in the pot and it was very salty! Two more customers came after 1:10 pm, and 3 parties of 2 to 3 people came after 1:30 pm.

さて、勘定をリクエストしてからが大変です。
ウエイター、『週末はバフェはなくブランチなので、この価格になります。またクーポンは取れません。』
私、『最初にバフェーがあるかとクーポン取るか確認したじゃないですか。』
ウエイター、『私は新米なのでわからない。オーナーがそう云ってる。』

After we got our bill, we had some arguments.
Waiter: "On weekend we have Brunch instead of Lunch Buffet, so the price goes up and we cannot take the coupon."
Lisaky: "When we came in I confirmed with you that you have Lunch Buffet and you honor the coupon."
Waiter: "I'm new here, so I don't know. The owner says so."

上の問答の繰り返しです。メニューを見ても、週末にバフェがあるのかブランチがあるのかとそれらの価格も明記されてません。長年アメリカでの仕事上インド人と問答しても絶対むこうが折れることはないと知ってるので、あきらめ、『2度とココには来ない』、と誓ったのでした。ランチ2人分で消費税とチップを入れ$32ぐらいでした。

We kept repeating the same conversation. I checked their menu, but it doesn't mention if they have Lunch Buffet or Brunch on Saturday and Sunday and there was no price listed for Buffet and Brunch on the menu. As I worked for a long time in USA and dealt with people from India, I know that they never compromise on business. So, we gave it up and sweared, "WE WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE." We paid around $32 for Lunch for two plus tax and tips.

イェルプレビューを見ると週末はバフェを頼むとフリードリンクやブランチはシャンペーンブランチでフリードリンク、などと書いてありますが、そういうものはありませんでした。その日の気分かウエイターによっても違うのかもしれません。

Yelp Reviews said, "You get complimentary Drink with food on Weekend" or "There will be free drink or free champagne on Weekend." But the waiter did not offer those. Maybe it depends on the server or the mood of the owner that day.
