『ミツワ・トーレンス夏祭り』が8月15日と16日開催され、15日に行って来ました。前回からの続きです。 "Mitswa Torrance Summer Festival" was held on Aug.15 and 16, 2009. I went there on 8/15/09. This continues from the previous blog. ラムネ早飲み大会。決勝戦。 5人づつ5組の予選を行った。大人は1人2本づつ。大人の部優勝は左から2番目の男性。$10のミツワ商品券を獲得。
Ramune Soda Quick Drinking Contest (Adult)The final contest. There were 5 heats of 5 persons each. Adult had to drink 2 Ramune Soda each. The winner of the adult division was the 2nd left man. He won $10 Mitsuwa gift certificate.
Shake A Pedometer Contest There were Adult division and Children division with 5 heats of 5 people each. The winner advanced to the final contest. The winner of the final contest won $10 Mitsuwa gift certificate.
Also there were "Parent-child pair smashing watermelon contest", "Atchimuite Hoi with Whole Body (Children)", "Plastic Bottle Bowling Contest (Children)", and "Karaoke Contest (Adult)". くじ引き 箱を破ってくじを引く。
Drawings You will punch out a box to get a ticket.
Lucky Strings You will draw a string from many strings.
Water Ballon Catching (Fishing)
Goldfish Scooping I did not try it this year, because I let the goldfish die in a week in the past.
Shooting Game It was crowded with many people.
Masks There were Draemon, Winnie the Pooh, Ebisu (Money) God, etc. Over half of them were sold out.
Nostalgic Sweets from Japan They were $1 for 3 pieces.

Toys from Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan They were $2 or $3 per toy.

There were "Ring Toss" and "Putting Game", too. It was $2 per game for most of them. 新鮮採れたて産地直送の八百屋がありました。
There was a Produce Shop selling freshly picked fruits and vegetables.
Satoimo Potatoes and Okura were sold at $1 per bag. It's less than half of the regular price at markets.
Shishito Chili Peppers were also $1 per bag.
Korean Melon, Plums, and Grapes were also $1 per bag.
Large White Peaches were $1.50 for 2 pieces.
Red Peppers and Yellow Peppers were $1 for 2 pieces. Large Enrigi Mushrooms were $2 per bag.
This time I bought lots of vegetables at Mitsuwa Summer Festival. I stopped by the market inside and bought Octopus leg meat on sale and made Octopus balls at home. Cooking Octopus balls at home became "my trend" lately. Mitsuwa also had Shaved Ice Syrups on sale, so I bought some and made Shaved Ice at home.
Karaoke contest is very popular, and it's performed at last on Sunday. I believe the champion will get $200 Mitsuwa gift certificate. Every year, the entry to Karaoke contest is closed a few days before the Summer Festival.
