インドネシア料理店 サンプルは「チキン・カレー（マイルドかスパイシー）のみでした。 Indonecian Restaurant. Sample tasting was "Chicken Curry (Mild or Spicy)" only.
インド料理店『マユラ』。サンプルは「ナンとカレーソース」のみでした。 Indian Restaurant "Mayura". Sample tasting was "Numb with Curry Sauce" only.
This Curry King Contest was supposed to be from 10 AM to 3:30 PM. Only restaurants opened at 10 AM was Jamaican Restaurant and Thai BBQ Restaurant. At Thai BBQ Restaurant, they did not understand English, so it was hard to get the sample tasting. Finally I got a sampling, but it was for a small cup of "Thai Red Curry" sauce only. It was very spicy. At Jamaica Restaurant, "Natraliart Jamaican Restaurant", you could select your sample from varieties of Curry menu. I chose "Curry Shrimp." They gave me just Curry without Steamed Rice, but it was good.
Indonesian Restaurant, "Simpang Asia" was waiting for an inspection by LA Health Department, and it opened little after 11 AM. The sampling was only "Chicken Curry (Mild or Spicy)." They served nicely with banana leaf with steamed rice. We decided to eat lunch here. I had "BBQ Chicken Curry," and my friend TK had "Beef and Chicken Curry Combo." Both of them were $6 each.
ケニア料理店「ンゴマ」。オバマ大統領のお父さんの出身地方の料理らしい。 Kenyan Restaurant, "NGOMA". They make foods of the region where President Obama's father is from.
Kenyan Curry, "NGOMA" Restaurant was slow at preparing Kenyan curry. They are from where President Obama's father is from. They became ready around 12:15 PM but they did not pass the inspection by LA Health Department. We could not sample Kenyan curry at all. The inspector was testing the temperature of each food in the containers, so maybe the temperature was lower than the specified amount. Also the inspector was telling the tables were smaller than the required size.
Another restaurant cleared the first inspection in the morning, but it did not clear the 2nd inspection in the out of blue in the afternoon for not maitaining the required temperature for the food to be served. They were ordered to stop selling food items right away. LA Health Department's inspections are getting tougher each year.
There were another Indian Curry from Bombay, Japanese Hawaiian Dry Curry from "North Shore" Hawaiian Restaurant, too. They were slow preparing, so we did not get taste those, either.
I took photos with my cell phone, so the photos are not that good... It was very crowded. There were lots of booths selling all kinds of food. There were no tables or chairs to eat food, so you eat standing or sitting on the street curves.
