Amandine Cafe@WLA: On March 21, 2009, we stopped by at "Amandine Cafe"in West Los Angeles for a tea/coffee break after viewing cherry blossoms at Lake Balboa Park. It's an European country style cafe, offering freshly made bread, pastries, Croissants, Cakes, Tartes, Omelets, Soup, Sandwich, French Toast, Salad, Coffee, Espresso, Cafe au latté, Tea, and etc.
After wondering what to order, I ordered Gaeau Fraise (Strawberry Shortcake $4.25) and a hot Dargiling Tea. Friend JA ordered Cheese Cake (with a strawberry $4.85) and a Coffee. Friend JA treated me for the cake and hot tea in return of lunch box I prepared for cherry blossom viewing.
チーズ・ケーキにイチゴがのってるもの($4.85) Cheese Cake (with a strawberry $4.85)
I believe the owner chef is a Japanese guy who got training in France. The pastries are slightly sweet (not too sweet) and very delicate and fine tasting.
They take whole cake orders in advance. I recommend ordering them at least 1 day in advance. The website lists they are open every day from 7 AM. But a few times they were closed on Monday (holiday Monday). It's better to call in before visiting there on Monday. Another thing is they don't have a parking. You need to find a meter parking on the street and you will need 25 cent coins.
