Mitsuwa Little Tokyo Store Closing Sale: The store was opened in 1985 as the first USA store of Yaohan Market of Japan. It expanded to other locations in USA. About 10 years later, the name changed from "Yaohan" to "Mitsuwa." Mitsuwa Little Tokyo Store is having a 50% off Closing Sale from 1/19 to 1/25/09.
When I went there on 1/17/09, they were having 25% off sale. This store will become a Korean market later. Other locations of MitsuwaMarket will remain open. Other retail stores in the adjacent shopping mall will remain the same.
The market is 3 story building with a 5 story parking structure and an adjacent 3 story shopping mall with restaurants. They had bowling lanes on the 3rd floor when it opened with a nice cafe. I liked their Chashu Ramen Noodle Soup. It was so good. The bowling place closed more than 15 years ago.
Americans face a tough choice Tuesday morning: watch Barack Obama's historic inauguration, or storm department stores to take advantage of a first-come, first-serve cosmetics giveaway worth $175 million.
The giveaway is the culmination of a class action suit that accused Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf, Dillard's, Filene's, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue, among others, of fixing cosmetics prices. Though the giveaway runs from January 20-26, it may not last that long.
I went to Macy's last night around 7:30 PM at South Bay Galleria. They had a sign saying, "Out of Products." At Nordstrom, it was out for the day, but I was instructed to come back at 10 AM next day. They expect to have lines 40 minutes before 10 AM opening time and over half of available product lines are out already.
