DREAM ON @LA

　　前記事からの続きです。第120回ローズパレードが1月1日元旦ロス郊外のパサディナ市で開催された。
1月3日パレード後のフロート見学と写真撮影してきました。

Rose Parade Floas 2 (Continued from Previous blog.):
The 120th Rose Parade was held on January 1, 2009 in Pasadena, Los Angeles suburb. It's held every year on New Year's Day.

I went to view and take photos of the parade floats on 1/3/2009.


『ボブ・ホープ・トロフィー』受賞。（ユーモアがあるため。）ニュー・メキシコ州制作『ハッツ・オフ・ツー・ニュー・メキシコ』。

Bob Hope Trophy for use of humor, "Hats Off To New Mexico - Beep Beep," state of New Mexico and Fiesta Parade Floats.


『メーヤーズ・トロフィー』受賞。もっともすぐれた都市に与えられる。ハンティントン・ビーチ市制作『サーフ・シティーＵＳＡ』。

Mayor's Trophy for most outstanding city, "Surf City USA," City of Huntington Beach and Festival Artists.


『スペシャル・トロフィー』受賞。55人乗り以上のフロートで複数部門で優れた作品。カイザー・パーマネンテ（総合病院グループ）制作『あなたの夢をプロペラで飛ばせ』。

Special Trophy for exceptional merit in multiple categories for floats over 55 people, "Propel Your Dreams," Kaiser Permanente and Fiesta Parade Floats.



『イザベラ・コールマン・トロフィー』受賞。ナショナル不動産協会制作『100年間の家所有の夢を祝う』

Isabella Coleman Trophy for best presentation of color, "Celebrating the Dream of Home Ownership for 100 Years," National Association of Realtors and Fiesta Parade Floats.



トレーダー・ジョーズ制作『サタデー・マティーネ』

"Saturday matinee" by Trader Joe's.



『エクトラオーディナリー・トロフィー』受賞。最高に劇的なフロート。ジャック・イン・ザ・ボックス制作『ジャック・オーリシャス』。

Extraordinaire Trophy for most spectacular float, "Jack-O-Licious," Jack-in-theBox and Festival Artists.



バーバンク市制作『ダブル・フィーチャー』。怪しげな音楽とともに恐竜が頭をふり、人が集まってました。

"Double Feature" by City of Burbank. A Trex was rocking his head along with mysterious music. Lots of people gathered around the float.


『ラスロップ・Ｋ・レーシュマン・トロフィー』受賞。シエラ・マドレ地区ボランティア制作『ボリウッド・ドリームズ』。これもインド特有の音楽とともに象が踊り、人がたくさん集まってました。

Lathrop K. Leishman Trophy for the most beautiful non-commercial float, "Bollywood Dreams," made by volunteers in Sierra Madre. The elephant was dancing and rocking along with Indian music. Lots of people gathered around this float, as well.

なんでもインドのボリウッドではアメリカのハリウッドの3倍の映画制作されているらしい。世界一。

In Bollywood, India, they make movies as three times as much as made in Hollywood, USA. Number 1 movie making area in the world.

そのボリウッドのフロート前で写真撮影してもらいました。

I posed for a photo in front of the Bollywood's float.


今年は46フロートが参加。同じフロートのものはコラージュ写真に編集しました。ローズパレード・フロート写真集、お楽しみいただけたでしょうか。

パレード後のフロート観賞は1日午後1時から、2日、及び3日午後4時まで行われた。
行こうと思い立ったのが3日午後1時20分。テレビ局ＨＰなどでフロート観賞情報を検索できます。
いつもＰＣの前に座ったら最後、1時間〜2時間経ってしまいます。それでは時間切れです。

パサディナまで高速道路110番をひたすら北に走り、到着してすぐのガソリン・スタンドのキャッシャーのお姉さんにフローと観賞の場所を尋ねました。Sierra Madreまで東に行き、その通りを北に行った先にある、とのことでした。ガソリンスタンドから20分ほど下の道を走り到着。手前4ブロックあたりの住宅街に車を停め（無料）、入場チィケット（＄７）を買い会場に入ったのが午後2時35分。チィケット販売が午後3時まででしたので、なんとかセーフでした。

46 floats participated in the Rose Parade this year. I edited photos and made collages to group the same float.
I hope you enjoyed the float photos.

"Float Viewing after the parade" was available from 1 PM on 1/1/2009, 9 to 4 PM on 1/2/2009 and 1/3/2009. I decided to go visit around 1:20 PM on 1/3/2009. You can search the float viewing information on TV channel homepages and etc.. I spend 1 to 2 hours easily once I sit in front of a PC. There was no time to do that.

I drove 110 Free Way North until I arrived at Pasadena and asked a cashier at a gas station for direction to "Rose Parade Viewing site." I was told to drive East to Sierra Madre, make left and keep driving North along Sierra Madre to find the viewing site. I drove 20 minutes to the site, and there it was. I parked on the street in the residential area 4 blocks in front of the viewing site (for free). I purchased a ticket ($7) and entered the viewing site at 2:35 PM. The tickets were available until 3 PM that day. I made it.

その日はあいにくの曇り。降水確率30パーセントで寒かった。人ごみは多いときは順番に並んでゆっくりしか歩けないらしい。天候がいまいちだったせいか、それほど混んでませんでした。
120年続いているローズパレード。初めてのフロート写真撮影楽しみました。

It was cloudy and cold that day with 30 % chance of rain. When there are too many crowds, they control the flow by making the crowds form lines and wait to proceed to view floats. Because of the not so good weather, it was not that crowded. Rose Parade has been held for 120 years.
I enjoyed my first float viewing a lot.
