Film, "3.11: SURVIVING JAPAN" will be screened at select theatres today on 3-11-2013 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and New York.

Inside story of 2011 Japanese Tsunami relief & Fukushima nuclear disaster. A critical look at how the authorities handled the nuclear crisis and Tsunami relief by an American who volunteered in the clean-up. It is in short, a documentary of the devastating events in Japan and 6 months of the after-math that followed. It features true stories from those affected by the disaster, the government and even TEPCO. It highlights the struggle in dealing with: The Tsunami clean-up, Government response to the disaster, radiation plus the future of nuclear power after the accident.

3月9日に安藤みちよ先生のレイキ練習会で、東日本のことを考え瞑想した時、日光を浴びたきれいな菜の花畑が出てきて、

「日本には空気を浄化する技術、放射能を除去する技術、代替エネルギーやバイオエネルギーの技術、再生医療の技術がすでにある。ただ政府の認可が下りるのに5年から10年かかる。

そのことを皆でブログやツイッターで話題にして、署名運動なり運動を起こして、政府の認可が早く下りれば、東日本の復興が速くなる。」

At the Reiki meditation I attended on March 9th, I saw beautiful Tenderstem broccoli flower filed shining with sunlight and received the following message:

"Japan has skills and technology to purify air, delete radiation, create alternative and bio energy, and technology for tissue engineering medicine. It takes 5 to 10 years for the Japanese government to approve the technology.

You and others should talk about those issues on blogs, twitter, and etc. and start petitions to speed up the Japanese government's approval process. Then Eastern Japan will be reborn in a shorter period of time."

NHKアナウンサー堀潤氏制作ドキュメンタリー映画「Metamorphosis　変身」が3月9日午後1時からと3時からレドンドビーチで上映されます。

A documentary film, "Metamorphosis" will be screened on 3-9-2013 in Redondo Beach, CA, from 1 pm and 3 pm.

What was happening after 311? This documentary film was created by Hori Jun who is risking his job by doing so and who have caused controversy on Twitter.

2011 Fukushima Daiichi accident following Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, 1979 Three Mile Island accident, and 1959 Santa Susana Field Laboratory, the details of these meltdowns have not been publicized even though these have lasting impacts until today. This film documented the situations around nuclear power plants in Japan and the United States. (The opening music was composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto.)

311の後に実際に何が起きていたのか。自らの首をかけ、Twitterで話題となった堀潤氏の渾身のドキュメンタリーフィルム。
2011年の東日本大震災で発生した福島第一原子力発電所事故、1979年のスリーマイル島原子力発電事故、1959年のサンタスザーナや野外実験場での事故、これらのメルトダウンは、現在も強い影響を与え続けているにもかかわらず、繊細は明らかにされていないのが現状である。このドキュメンタリーフィルムには、日本とアメリカの原発の状況が記録されている。

自分は、11月25日にロサンゼルスでこの映画を観ました。祈りの力、そして瞑想も祈りと同じ力があるそうです。どちらも脳派が変わることで、まわりに波動を発し、犯罪率を22%低下させ、まわりの人を落ち着かせ、平和にでき、また免疫力も向上することから、病気治癒にも効果があるそうです。8366人（世界人口の1%の１％乗）が祈ると、地球全体が平和になるそう。具体的なデーターやサンプルが語られ、面白かったです。

I watched this film on 11-25-2012 in Los Angeles. It talked about power of INORI, prayer. Meditation has the same power as prayer, too. Prayer and meditation change our brain waves, and transmit vibrations. It will calm down people around us, make the crime rate lower by 22 percent, make peace, and make our immunization up, so it has great healing effect on sickness. When 8366 people (1% power of 1%) pray, the whole Earth will be peaceful. It was interesting with detailed data and samples.

白鳥哲監督

俳優・声優でもある白鳥哲監督は、今年5月に富士山で世界平和を祈る行事(SOPP)でお見かけした。会場の壇上に立たれた白鳥監督の話をきいた。

2007年10月ごろ耳鳴りがして、脳腫瘍になり、声が出なくなり、12月上旬に舌ガンになった。病気は悪化し脳梗塞の疑いもあり、死と直面。江本勝さんの波動カウンセリングを受け、1週間で声が出始め、楽になった。自分が過去抱いた「想い」のエネルギーが病気を招いていることに気づき、過去の全ての負のエネルギー、相手や自分の感情を思い出して、“ホ・オポノポノをし、今までお世話になった人、関わった人に、「ごめんなさい。許してください。ありがとうございます。」と心の中で謝罪して祈った。

I saw him at World Peace prayer SOPP event at Mt. Fuji on May 20, 2012. He went up on the stage and mentioned his personal experience. He is also an actor and voice over. Around October 2007, His ears started ringing and got brain tumors, and he lost his voice. He became Tongue cancer at beginning of Dec. 2007. His health condition worsened, and there was a possibility of a stroke and death. He got counseling of Dr. Masaru Enomoto about vibration. A week later his voice started to come back. He realized his "thoughts" conceived in the past was making him sick. He decided to send "Ho Ono Pono" (I'm Sorry, Please Forgive me, and thank you, a theory from Hawaii) and prayers to all the people he recalled that he ever met in the past.

村上和雄教授

村上和雄教授には6年前、ロサンゼルス講演会でお会いした。一番前の真ん中に座ったため、講演会終了後すぐにツーショットの写真を撮っていただいた。漫才師のように面白い方でした。人間のDNAで目覚めているのは5%以下。あとの眠っているDNAを目覚ませるのは、笑いや感動、とのお話でした。

I met Dr. Kazuo Murakami 6 years ago in East Los Angele at his seminar. My seat was the first row in the middle, and I asked to have a picture taken with him right away and got his autograph on his book right after the seminar. His seminar was like a comedy. It was so fun and entertaining. He mentioned less than 5% of our DNA are awake. Laughs and moving experiences will awaken the other sleeping DNAs.

短編映画「リトル東京レポーター」が11月17日（土）と18日（日）にオレンジ郡のハンティングトンビーチで上映されます。1930年代アジア系非市民が土地を購入できなかったアメリカ。最高裁まで戦い勝利判決を得た日系一世藤井整さんの実話です。
"Lil Tokyo Reporter" will be screened on Sat. Nov.17 and Sun. Nov.18, 2012 in Huntington Beach. This film is a narrative short film to bring to light and honor the major accomplishments of Sei Fujii, Issei pioneer, leader and publisher of "Kamai:California Daily News."

彼は1903年来米。1911年にUSC大学法学院卒業。当時はアジアからの移民は永住権も市民権も申請できず、非市民は弁護士などの国家試験を受験することさえできませんでした。

仕方なくUSC法学院でクラスメートだったマリオ・ウライトと共に弁護士事務所でアシスタントとして働き、日系人の人種差別や人権無視の弁護のヘルプに奔走する。彼らの最高の勝利は、1928年アメリカ最高裁判所で勝ち得たロサンゼルスの日本人医者達がロサンゼルスに病院を建てる権利を得たこと。

He immigrated to America in 1903 and graduated from USC Law School in 1911. Unable to become an attorney because he was not an American citizen, he worked for decades with classmate J. Marion Wright, a civil rights attorney, to help the Issei and the Japanese American community with racially discriminatory legal issues. Their biggest legal victory was to appeal and win a United States Supreme Court decision in 1928, to allow Japanese doctors in Los Angeles to build the first Japanese hospital in the country.

1932年、藤井整氏は『加州毎日新聞』を設立し、新聞を発行した。彼は、紙面で日系一世にどうやってアメリカで生き残るかアドバイスした。アメリカにしっかり根を張り、子供達二世をアメリカの主流コミュニティーに参加させることを奨励した。

In 1932, community leader, Sei Fujii started publishing the Kashu Mainichi, a Japanese daily newspaper. He advised the Issei on how to best survive in America. He told them to put down roots and to encourage their Nisei children to fully participate in the mainstream community.

第二次世界大戦勃発後、藤井整氏は、アメリカ政府にニュー・メキシコ州サンタフェの強制収用所に連行された最初のグループに居た。戦後数年経って強制収用所から開放後、ロサンゼルスに土地を買い、1911年以来市民権申請できない移民の土地購入を禁止した「カリフォルニア移民土地法」に挑戦した。「フジイ対カリフォルニア」裁判において、彼と友人弁護士マリオン・ライトはカリフォルニア州最高裁まで戦った。1952年、州最高裁は「カリフォルニア移民土地法」は憲法違反だという判決を出した。

When World War II started, Sei Fujii was among the first incarcerated in the Department of Justice Detention Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Upon his release, he purchased a small parcel of land to challenge the California Alien Land Law that since 1911, prevented aliens ineligible for citizenship from owning land in California. Under Fujii v. California, he and J. Marion Wright fought and appealed their challenge to the California Supreme Court. In 1952, the Court ruled that the California Alien Land Law was unconstitutional.

山崎豊子さんの小説「二つの祖国」をNHKが描いた大河ドラマ「山河燃ゆ」。

この中で日系アメリカ人としてロサンゼルスに生まれ、両親の故郷である鹿児島県加治木町で教育を受けて、大東大学に進学し、後(1931年）にアメリカへ帰還。UCLA大学卒業後ロサンゼルスの「加毎新報」で働く主人公の天羽賢治は、史実に基づくフィクションとされています。本当に実在された方で、藤井整さん創設の「加州毎日新聞社」の記者だった伊丹明さんです。（1943年、ドイツから日本へ寄贈される潜水艦、U-511には軍事代表委員の野村直邦中将が便乗予定で、通信に薩隅方言が使われ、米軍日系人らはさっぱりわからなかった。伊丹は鹿児島育ちだったため通訳できた。1950年39歳で伊丹はピストル自殺した。）

何故そんなことを知っているかというと、カレッジ卒業後の1980年代後半に、私もこの新聞社で1年働きました。登場人物の名前は少しずつ変えてありました。

兄弟同士アメリカと祖国日本の兵士として戦場で会い、戦わなければなかった、悲劇です。

In Toyoko Yamazaki's novel, "Two Homeland" (Futatsu No Sokoku), A Japanese American man, Kenji Umou, was born in Los Angeles. He was sent back and educated in his parents hometown in Kagoshima, Japan, and graduated from Dai Tokyo University. Later he moved back to Los Angeles in 1931 and became a writer at "Kamai Shimpo." The novel was made into NHK TV drama, "Sanga Moyu" later on. The film said, it's a fiction based on history. But that writer, David Akira Itami, actually existed at "Kamai: California Daily News" that Sei Fujii started.

He and his brothers met at battle fields as enemies. One was a Japanese soldier, the other was American soldier, and etc. It was such a tragedy. I worked for "Kamai: California Daily News" in late 1980's after graduating a college in LA. That's why I know. The people in the novel really existed. The writer changed the names little bit to conceal the identities. David Akira Itami translated Satsuma dialect used among Japanese military high ranking officers for United States. That dialect is difficult to understand but that dialect is used in Kagoshima, Japan, where he grew up. David Akira Itami committed a suicide at age of 39 in 1950.

アジア系移民がやっと1960年代にアメリカで永住権、市民権を申請できるようになったのも、藤井整さんの「カリフォルニア移民土地法」の勝利と憲法違反の判決が参考にされたそうです。彼と友人弁護士マリオン・ライト氏のおかげです。

Thanks to Sei Fujii's "California Alien Land Law" case and challenge for years with his lawyer friend, Marion J. Wright, Asian immigrants were able to apply for US Green cards and US citizenship in 1960's.

この映画は9月14日の週末にパサディナでプリミア公開されたようです。

映画「2016年、オバマのアメリカ」DVDが10月16日リリースされ、予約注文しさっそく昨晩観ました。

Film "2016:Obama's America" DVD was released on Oct. 16, 2012. I pre-ordered it and watched it last night.

この映画は「アンチオバマ」でも「プロオバマ」でもない。

オバマが生まれてから大学時代までの足取りを淡々と追ったドキュメンタリー。その焦点は、オバマ大統領の自叙伝「ドリームズ・フロム・マイ・ファーザー」。その中に登場する人物と場所を追って、オバマ大統領の”ドリームズ（夢）”とは何か、彼の目指すものは何か、2期目再選し4年後2016年のアメリカはどうなっているか、という推定の結論に結びつく。

This movie is neither "anti-Obama" nor "pro-Obama."

The writer and director, Dinesh D'Souza simply followed the footsteps of Obama from his birth to college years, and made it into a documentary film. Its focus is Obama's auto-biography, "Dreams from My Father." D'Souza chased and saw the places and people in Obama's book to find "What are President Obama's dreams" and "What is he trying to achieve?" D'Souza came to a speculated conclusion how America will be like in year 2016, 4 years later after Obama gets re-elected.

オバマ大統領の夢は彼の父親バラック・オバマ・シニアの夢を果たすこと。それは、反植民地化。オバマ大統領は10歳の時に1度父親にあっただけだった。この不在の父親の理想は母からきかされ、美化されていた。

The dream President Obama is intent on realizing is the dream of his anti-colonialist father, Barack Obama Sr., his absentee father; the two met only once, when the future president was 10 years old.　Barack Obama Jr.'s mother told only good things about him, so he had magnified good image of Barack Obama Sr.

デソーザ氏の言う”反植民地化”とは、植民地制は植民地下の国の富が植民地所有者に搾取されると確信を持つ。かつては自ら植民地だったアメリカ合衆国が、今では”ネオ植民地実権者”としてアメリカ原住民、ハワイ人、フィリピン人を過去から21世紀の今に至り支配している。オバマ大統領はそれを脱植民地化しようとしている。

Anti-colonialism, as D’Souza defines it, is underwritten by a conviction that “colonialism is a system of piracy in which the wealth of the colonized countries is stolen by the colonizers” and that at the present time the United States, originally a colony itself, is the chief neo-colonial power, continuing its flawed history of subjugating native Americans, Mexicans, Hawaii and the Philippines into the 21st century. Obama is trying to de-colonize many countries from United States and United Kindom.

映画「Pray for Japan」が二世週祭で8月18日（土）午後4時からリトル東京の日米劇場で上映されます。収益金は東日本被災地支援団体に送られます。
Film "Pray for Japan" will be screened from 4 pm on Saturday, August 18, 2012, as a part of Nisei Week Festival, at Aratani Japan America Theatre in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. It's a charity screening. The proceeds will be sent to JEN (Japanese Emergency NGO) that has been supporting the victims of Eastern Japan Earthquake.

日本漫画を世界へ紹介した第一人者、東京POPの創設者Stu Levy氏が震災後に東日本被災地にかけつけ5週間余りボランティアを続けながら撮ったドキュメンタリー映画。Stu Levy監督の舞台挨拶や質疑応答もあります。

Stu Levy of Tokyo POP, who introduced Japanese Anime to the world, rushed to the affected area of Easter Japan after 3-11-11 Earthquake and Tsunami disaster. He volunteered and stayed there for over 5 weeks. The victims asked him to film the recovery efforts, and this film was created. Stu Levy will be there to greet and for Q&A session.

Gyoza Eating Championship
この映画上映会の前には日米劇場前の特設ステージにて、「ギョウザ早食い大会」が午後2時から開催されます。10分間で何個食べれるかを競います。

"Gyoza Eating Championship" will be held little before the film screening in front of JACCC theater from 2 pm on 8-18-2012. The contestants will compete how many Gyoza dumblings one can eat in 10 minutes.

ランチ抜きで2時からの「ギョウザ早食い大会」に行って、休憩し、映画「Pray for Japan」を観に行く、っていうプランもいいかも。。。出場したい方は少し早めに行って事前登録要。

Here is a plan. You skip a lunch and go to "Gyoza Eating Championship" from 2 pm. Take a rest little bit, and go to "Pray for Japan" screening from 4 pm. If you would like to participate the "Gyoza Eating Championship", it's better to get there little earlier and register for the contest.

リトル東京の2011年デイリーフード世界ギョウザ大会チャンピオンのパット・バートレッティさんは263個の餃子を10分間で食べたそう。賞金は$5500ドル（43万円弱）とか。。。

4月14日に映画「フクシマ 2011～被爆に晒された人々の記録」をハリウッドで見ました。日本映画祭LA2012が4月13日から22日まで開催されました。その後、海が見たくなり、ランチョパロスバーデスに行き、菜の花が咲いてました。

"Chronicles From the Heartland: Fukushima 2011" was screened during "Japan Film Festival LA 2012" from April 13 through 22, 2012. I saw the film on April 14 in Hollywood. After watching the movie, we wanted to see ocean and went to Rancho Palos Verdes Peninsula. We saw Rape blossoms there.

Crenshaw Blvd.を南に上っていった先のハイキングトレイルのトップ部分に菜の花が咲いてました。

There were Rape blossoms on the top of the hiking trail at the very South end of Crenshaw Blvd.

こちらは、Abalone Cove　下のビーチ。この上の広場も2－3年前まで菜の花畑でした。今年は更地になり、菜の花がほとんど咲いてませんでした。

The beach at Abalone Cove. There were Rape blossoms at the top of here until 2-3 years ago. This year, it was cleared. We did see very little Rape blossom.

映画「フクシマ2011～被爆に晒された人々の記録」
静かで平和な暮らしから、3－11－11の大地震と津波により、家族や友人・住居・仕事の喪失とフクシマ原発の爆破事故により、放射能への恐怖にさらされた人々を追ったドキュメンタリー映画。

ある者は出て行き、あるものは強制退去で仮設住宅に移り、あるものは、そこに残る決意をした。

子供たちを自由に外で遊ばせることができない生活。桜や大自然の美、美しい海をめでることもできない。

住民の一番の苛立ちは、日本政府が1ヶ月以上真実を隠蔽し伝えなかったこと。今でもどこまで真実を発表してるのか。

幼稚園児を持つ女性は、「パニックになるからと言って、1ヶ月以上も本当のことを発表しなかった。命にかかわることなんですよ。子供もすでに被爆した。絶対に許せない。」と語る。

Chronicles From the Heartland: Fukushima2011*
On 3-11-2011, the earthquake of the Tohoku Eastern Japan occurred and huge Tsunami followed. Over 20,000 people lost their lives or unaccounted for. In addition, the Tokyo Electric Power Co. Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant exploded. Radioactive material with a large amount of radioactivity spilled. The people in Iidate village and Minamisouma City, north where the nuclear power plant places, faces the pollution and radioactivity.

Many people lost their loved ones, houses, work, etc. Some people left. Some people were moved out of their houses by the executive order. Some decided to stay. This film follows the people in Fukushima who live sincerely trying to challenge the reconstruction and regeneration of their town.

Their ordinary lives were changed. They cannot let their children play freely outside. They cannot enjoy the beautiful outdoor, cherry blossoms, beautiful ocean, etc. anymore due to radiation.

What irritated the people most was the cover-up and lies from the Japanese government. They did not declare Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant had a explosion for over one month from the actual explosion. They still doubt how much truth are coming out.

A woman with a kindergarten-er mentioned, "They did not release about the nuclear explosion for over one month in fear of drawing catastrophic panic. It affects our lives. My child was already exposed to radiation. I will never forgive them."

映画上映の後、監督・プロデューサーの稲塚秀孝さんの舞台挨拶と質疑応答が行われた。今回のロサンゼルス上映が海外初上映だったそう。

原発事故後数ヶ月は、マスクをしていた住民も、マスク無しで外出してるそう。

幼稚園や家庭の除洗作業も地元住民が週末を利用して1軒1軒ボランティアで行っている。地元自治体や日本政府の対応は後手後手にまわっている様子が、映画で描かれていた。

映画開始が遅れたので、1－2問のみの質問で終了。

あとは劇場外で話せると云われ劇場をでた。メディアのアポイントメント優先とかで稲塚監督に挨拶もできなかった。しばらく外で待っていたけれど、メディアの予約で詰まってるし、予約の無い一般人は相手にしないと秘書らしき方に云われ、ハリウッドを後にした。

There was a greeting and Q and A session by the film director, Hidetaka Inazuka, after the movie. That screening in Hollywood was the world first premiere for the film.

The people who live in the hot-spot in Fukushima used to wear masks for a few months after the Nuclear explosion was announced. Now people go out without wearing masks.

The film shows detoxing radiation from prep schools, kindergartens, and residences with small children are done by some volunteer citizens who live there by doing it on their day off from work every week. The local government and the central government are always behind on what-should be done.

The start of the film was delayed, so there was limited time for 1 or 2 questions. We were told to greet the director, Inazuka outside of the theater. Local media people were interviewing him. We waited outside for several minutes, but the secretary told us that he only talks to the media people by appointment. We left Hollywood.

3日前、４人で東北被災地へ癒しの遠隔レイキエネルギーを送りました。

私には、その間、きらきら日光に輝く黄色い一面の菜の花畑、風が見えました。

フクシマ原発が見えたので、「原発さんありがとう」と感謝した。
東北の海がきらきら日光に輝いていて、きれいでした～。

白と黄色のやさしい光に包まれた東北。 「再生」という言葉が聞こえてきました。

5月14日夜ロサンゼルスを出発し、5月18日と19日に東北被災地に行く予定です。成田より北東に行くのは初めてです。

Four of us sent distant Reiki healing energy to Tohoku Easter Japan 3 days ago.

While we were doing that I saw white sunshine beaming yellow Rare blossoms and winds in Tohoku Eastern Japan area.

Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant appeared, so I said, "Thank you Nuclear Power Plant" and showed my gratitude.

The Pacific Ocean in Tohoku was brightly shining with sunshine and beautiful.

Tohoku Eastern Japan area was surrounded by soft white and yellow lights. A word, "rebirth" resonated.

I'm leaving Los Angeles at night of May 14th for Japan. I'm visiting Tohoku Eastern Japan on May 18th and 19th. It's my first time visiting area North East of Narita airport.

We are in the process of searching nature-friendly energy that can replace nuclear power. "Free energy" was already invented in United States in 1901. The research institute was sponsored by Rockefeller. As soon as Rockefeller saw it, he halted, closed, and burned the research institute, in fear of loosing prospective huge profit from coals and oil.

Other inventors came up with nature-friendly free energy, and Rockefeller closed them all and assassinated most of the inventors.

I got a DVD and watched this movie three times between 10 pm on 2/24 to 4 am on 2/25/2012 with English, Japanese, and English version. The film is little less than 2 hour long. You may not understand the content fully until you watch it for 3 times.

東日本大震災ドキュメンタリー映画「Pray for Japan~心を一つに～」を3月14日夜観ました。スチュー・リービー監督が映画上映後舞台挨拶と質疑応答に来られ、近くのレストランでのスタッフとの打ち上げパーティーに参入。チケットの売り上げは全て東日本被災者を支援する非営利団体JEN (Japanese Emergency NGO) に送られる。

Film, "Pray for Japan": I saw the documentary film on March 14, 2012. The director, Stu Levy appeared on the stage after the show at AMC Del Amo Torrance (LA area) and greeted the audience and did Q&A session. All proceeds of the movie tickets will be sent to JEN (Japanese Emergency NGO) that has been supporting the victims of Eastern Japan Earthquake. Then, I was very fortunate to participate the celebration dinner with his staffs after the show.

この映画上映のことを3月11日に知らせてくれたＳさんによると、ロサンゼルス地域では、AMC Del Amo Torrance と AMC Blocks OCの2箇所で3月14日７ＰＭから上映。3月11日午後3時の時点で、AMC Torrance は、160人収容の部屋で86席売れ、AMC OC　では、180人収容の部屋で30席売れている。かなり売れ残っている。

スチュー・リービー監督、編集や翻訳をしたスタッフらは無償で制作し、ＡＭＣ劇場のご好意で無償で上映され、収益金は全て東日本被災者支援団体に送られる。何とかチケット完売するよう、ブログに書いてメールでまわしてくれと、Ｓさんからメールが来た。友人勢津子さんやMieさんにも同じメールが行き、3月11日夜と12日朝に数百人の人びとに回覧された。Ｓさん自らもビビナビに2度掲載。

すると席がどんどん売れ、3月14日当日、AMC Torranceでは、300席完売。急遽もう1部屋追加された。AMC OCは400人収容の部屋に変更し半分は埋まってた。（行けないけれどネットで席だけ買った人も大分いました。）草の根運動のパワー全開でした。

福島県出身の詩人・和合亮一氏の詩を朗読した女優の鈴木京香さん、テーマ曲を制作し演奏した奥田民生さんらも無償のボランティアで協力したそう。

My friend S told me about this movie on March 11, 2012. In Los Angeles area, there are 2 locations, AMC Torrance and AMC Blocks OC, screening this movie from 7 pm on March 14, 2012, but the tickets were not selling well. At 3 pm on March 11th, 86 out of 160 seat room was sold at Torrance and 30 out of 180 seat room was sold at AMC OC.

Stu Levy and other staff members made this film without pay, and AMC theaters will be playing this film for free as a courtesy and all proceeds will be sent to Eastern Japan disaster victim support organization, JEN. Friend S told me, Setsuko, and Mie to write a blog and or spread the message by grass-roots email mailing lists. Friend S listed it on Japanese site, Vivinavi, herself twice.
Then, the tickets got sold more and more.

On March 14th, 400 seats were sold at AMC Torrance, and they opened another room in the last minute. At AMC OC, it was moved to the largest room with 400 capacity, and half of it was full, and many other people bought tickets On-line to donate and did not show up. What a big success of the grass-roots-movements.

映画の感想は、東日本被災地で被害を受けた地域が想像以上に広大なこと。どこから手をつけていいかわからない状態。
家、職場、家族、友人、親戚、持ち物全てを失い、最初の3日間飲み水も食料も無く過ごした何万人もの被災者のかたがた。市庁舎、役所、学校、住宅、いろいろな物が津波に流され、町全体が消えたところも多数。電気も無い、電話やインターネットもなかなかつながらない。

そこへ、仕事も何もかも全てをほっぽいて、ボランティアとして、日本全国、そして世界のあちらこちらから支援に駆けつけたボランティアの方々。。。。
何という大きな愛。

食材1500人分をトラックに積んでかけつけたパキスタン人3人組は、冷たいお握りが1人半個しかなかった避難所に行き、暖かいパキスタンカレーを作り1ヶ月間奉仕した。彼らは、阪神大震災でも同じことをしたそう。

この映画を作ったスチュー・リービー監督も、2011年3月9日から東京に出張中で2日後に大地震発生。
全てほったらかして、友人と1000人分の食料（お米など）をトラックに積んで石巻にかけつけ、ＪＥＮの救援活動に参加した。瓦礫の撤去、泥かきの毎日。
ある時、ＪＥＮのリーダーから、是非フィルム撮影して、映画に残してくれと頼まれる。映画を1時間撮っては、また瓦礫や泥出しの仕事の毎日を6週間続ける。

頭が下がりました。
協力しながらがんばる人々、駆けつけたボランティアの人々。彼らの生き様、暖かい気持ちが心に響く映画でした。
そして、自分には一体何ができるだろう、と思っています。

After watching this movie, I thought how vast and wide area the disaster struck. You don't know where to start the rescue, volunteering, and the clean-ups.

So many thousands of people lost houses, work buildings, family members, friends, everything they owned. There was no food or drinking water for the first 3 days. In the coastal region, most all city halls, prefecture state halls, police stations, schools, housings, Internet hot spots, telephone poles were washed away by the powerful Tsunami. Entire towns disappeared at some regions. There was no electricity, internet connection, telephone connection for days.

Then, thousands of volunteers rushed there to help by leaving their work and things behind from all over Japan and all over the world.
What a huge love!

Three Pakistani guys came with truck load of food good for 1500 people when the people in the shelter was sharing one half of cold Rice Ball a day. They cooked hot Pakistani Curry Rice every day for 1 month as volunteers. They did the same when M8 Hanshin Earthquake struck Kobe and Osaka area in 1995.

Stu Levy was in Tokyo from March 9th, 2011 to make amends with his Japanese suppliers. Two days later the giant earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis struck. Within days, he abandoned everything and drove northeast up the coast to Ishinomaki city with a friend with truck load of food for 1000 people, rice, drinking water, etc. to volunteer for the recovery efforts by joining JEN. He took out the debris and muds from schools where people were using as shelters, and from other buildings.

Then a leader of JEN asked him to record a film of the clean-up efforts, so that they can show it to their children some days. Stu did 1 hour of filming a day and continued the clean-up efforts for six weeks.

I bow to them.
It was very inspiring to see these people striving and making best efforts, cooperating, and those volunteers helping people with unconditional love.
Then, I thought what can I do?

スチューさんは、日本のアニメをアメリカや海外で翻訳して出版するTokyoPopの創始者・社長。アメリカの大手書店バーンズ・アンド・ノーブル社倒産により苦境だった。
大震災後すぐに駆けつけ、目の当たりにした光景はあまりにもヒドク広大だった。自分の問題などとてもちっぽけに思えたそう。

Stu was in the midst of a career meltdown. His 14-year-old company, TokyoPop, an L.A.-based importer and distributor of Japanese manga and anime, was in dire straits. Borders bookstores, one of his company’s premier retailers, was in bankruptcy and owed TokyoPop close to $1 million –- and Borders wasn’t paying. He rushed to Ishinomaki, the Tsunami struck area, right away, and the disaster scene was so devastating and huge. He thought his problem looked so tiny compared to it.

東日本大震災ドキュメンタリー映画「PRAY FOR JAPAN～心を一つに～」が3月14日7PMに北アメリカ、ハワイの16箇所の映画館とロンドンで特別限定1回のみチャリティー上映され、全収益金は被災地支援に寄付されます。日本では３月11日からシネマート六本木にてロードショー中。

映画『ミッション:8ミニッツ』(原題"Source Code")のDVDを観た。バシャールの言う「パラレル・リアリティー」の存在や未来が過去を変えるという「果因説」を儀体験でき、お勧めです。

Movie"Source Code" (2011): I watched it on DVD. The movie made me experience Bashar's "Parallel realities" existing and the theory that the future can change the past.

あらすじ：栄誉ある兵士、キャプテン・コルター・スティーブンズ（ジェーク・ジレンホール）が目を覚ますと、彼の魂は見知らぬ男性の体の中に居た。シカゴ通勤列車爆破事件の犯人を突きとめる「ソース・コード」と呼ばれるミッションに居ることがわかる。これはある人が死ぬ前の8分間の記憶に入り込めるというプログラム。2番目に起こるシカゴ・ダウンタウンの爆破は何百万人もの市民が犠牲になる可能性が高い。2番目の爆破予告まであと6時間。その前に犯人を突き止め、爆破を防がなければならない。

心温まる逸話やサスペンススリラーを交えた『ミッション;8ミニッツ』は、『月に囚われた男』に次ぐダンカン・ジョーンズ監督第2作。共演は、ミシェル・モナハン、ヴェラ・ファーミガ、ジェフリー・ライト、他。

Plot:
When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he's ever known, he learns he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.

Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana). The film had it's world premier on March 11, 2011, and released on April 1, 2011 in USA and on October 28, 2011 in Japan.

最初同じ8分のシーンを4－5回繰り返し、訳のわからない状態とサスペンスが続く。

ここで放棄しないで最後まで観ると、バシャールの言う「パラレル・リアリティー」の世界が見える。

「パラレル・リアリティー」とは、2012年までに次元上昇すると言われている地球は1つではなく、各人の思考の波動に伴い類似性を持った地球に移行する、同時にリアリティーが存在している、という意味。

At first the same scene for 8 minutes keeps rolling back for four or five times and the suspense continues without knowing what's going on.

If you don't abandon the movie and keep watching it until the end, you will experience Bashar's "Parallel realities".

According to Bashar, "Parallel realities" exist. By year 2012, the Earth will experience the ascension. Each person will be transported to the Earth matching that person's thought vibrations. So, multiple Earth and realities exist simultaneously.

面白かったので、ＤＶＤの特典映像を全部見た。その中で、「マッド・サイエンティスト」と題した動画で、『人間の記憶は、脳の中にあるのではなく、宇宙空間にあり、脳はそれを受け取る受信機（レシーバー）という説があり、興味深い。今後科学の発展とともに明らかになるだろう。』みたいなことを言ってました。
これも2011年11月11日にバシャールが質問に対して答えたことと同じです。

The film was so fascinating, and I watched all of the Special features on DVD. One of them, "Mad Scientist" video clip mentioned, "One theory says, 'Human memories are not stored in people's brains, but stored in the space. The brains function as receivers to retrieve the memories. It's very interesting. As the science develops, it will be identified."
This is similar to what Bashar answered to one of the Q&A questions on 11-11-2011.

2011年ミスUSAページェントが6月19日夜ラスベガスのプラネットハリウッド・ホテル・カジノで開催され11 pmに終了。たまたまＴＶ報道見ました。

"Miss USA 2011 Was Crowned" on evening of June 19, 2011, at Planet Hollywood Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. It ended at 11 pm. I happened to watch the TV broadcast.

全米から51人のミスが登場。ビキニ・コンテストから見た感想としては、エクササイズしすぎで胸が無いモデル体型の人が多い、ということ。
昔の映像がチラット流れる。50年代～70年代はもっと健康的でカービー（曲線美豊かな）ミスが多かった。。

51 contestants were selected from 50 states and Puerto Rico. I watched it from Bikini Swimsuit contest. I thought so many of them are skinny and have flat breasts with too much exercises--they must be models.
Old film footage was aired. In 1950's to 1970's, there were lots of healthy looking curvy contestants..

ミスUSAのアリッサさんは歴史好きらしく、TVドラマ「キャメロット」、HBO制作ＴＶドラマ「ゲーム・オブ・スローン」や「チューダーズ」を観てるそう。（歴史って、レベル低いな～。。。）

Miss USA, Alyssia Campanella loves history. She said, "I’m obsessed with the Stuart and Tudor era. .... I watch 'Game of Thrones,' I watched 'Camelot' ― I know those are fantasy but I also watch 'The Tudors,' so I’m a huge history geek."

昨日次のＤＶＤ「ツーリスト」が届き昨晩観ました。5月30日ソウル発ロサンゼルス行き大韓航空便の中で観ましたが、途中何度も機体が大きく揺れアナウンスが多く、ゆっくり観たかったのでまた観ました。最後まで見ないとわからない真相。アンジェリナ・ジョーリーのスタイルいいここと。ジョニー・デップはちょうど今日6月9日で48歳の誕生日とか。　　ハッピーバースデー!

Yesterday I received the next DVD, "The Tourist" and watched it last night. I also watched it on my return flight from Seoul, Korea to LAX on May 30, 2011. There were so many announcements during the flight due to jet turbulences, so I wanted to watch it again.
You will not know the true story until you watch the ending scene. Angelina Jolie has a great figure. Today is Johnny Depp's 48th birthday.

公開中の映画「パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン幻影の航海」でジャック・スパローを演じるジョニー・デップは今日48歳。それを記念してジョニー・デップの恋人女性を特集したそうです。

4作目となるこの映画「パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン幻影の航海」に出てくる洞窟は、高級住宅地パロス・バーデス半島にある、高級リゾート、テラネア・リゾートの海岸沿いにある洞窟らしいです。
6月5日このテラネア・リゾートでばったり「わにの日々-海が好き！編」のわにさんに会いました。その洞窟写真はわにさんのレポート（こちら）を参照ください。

In the movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", Jack Sparrow looks at a cave on a beach. That scene was filmed at the cave at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. Last Sunday, I had a lunch at Nelson's Cafe at Terranea Resort. I saw my blog friend Wani by a coincidence there. She took the photos of the cave and posted them on her blog here. I will post photos of the food and scenery there on my blog soon.

映画「運命の背中」は日本映画祭ロサンゼルス2011で4月16日（土）正午からアーバイン市スタープレックス映画館にて上映されました。映画「二重被爆」の前に50分無料上映されました。

Movie "The Back of Destiny" was screened as a part of Japan Film Festival LA 2011 on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 12 noon at the Starplex Theatre in Irvine, California. It was screened for 50 minutes for free right before the movie, "Twice Bombed, Twice Survived."

第二次戦時中、若い男性は徴兵され戦地に送られた。生美の母の祈りが届いたのか、32歳の清が生美のお見合い相手として紹介された。生美より9歳年上。ぎこちないお見合いのあと、清のがっちりとした背中に一目ぼれした生美。二人は結婚。

貧しく慎ましく幸せな新婚生活1年であの世界史上初の原爆が広島市に投下された。2人とも背中から放射能を浴び大火傷した。被爆翌年アメリカ人ジャーナリストが被爆者の写真を撮りたいと病院に来る。背中のケロイド状態の一番ヒドイ清が医者に推薦され、一度は断る清。原爆を投下したアメリカ人の見世物にされたくなかった。だが被爆被害を知ってもらうことの重要さに気づき背中を見せる。

原爆のことが語られないアメリカ。日本でも8月6日と9日の広島・長崎原爆記念日周辺でしか語られないのではないでしょうか。戦後66年経ち多くの原爆体験者は他界。このような大惨事は二度とあってはならない。そのためにも多くの人に伝えなければならない。原爆と放射能による長年に渡る被害。次世代にも影響を与える。これは1組の夫婦の体験をもとにした物語。被爆者それぞれにそれぞれの物語がある。

高校時代映研で映画制作したことある私の目から観たこの映画は、原爆という重いテーマの映画にしては、あっさり明るく仕上げてあり、いろいろな方に受け入れられる映画。1組の夫婦の生き様に焦点を当てた点が良かった。英語字幕付き。ロス郊外アーバインの会場にはアメリカ人視聴者も居ました。ただ、アメリカでもっと多くの方に観てもらうためには、英語吹き替えが必要。字幕だけでは感情が伝わりにくいかも。

During World War II, many young men were enlisted to Army and sent to the war zones overseas. Thanks to Ikumi's mothers prayers, Kiyoshi a 32 years-old guy, was introduced to Ikumi at a match-making meeting. After seeing Kiyoshi for the first time, Ikumi fell in love with Kiyoshi's back. Ikumi and Kiyoshi got married.

A year after their marriage, the first Atomic Bomb in the world history was dropped in Hiroshima city, where they lived. Both of them got atomic bomb radiation beams from the back and suffered severe burns. Next year, American journalists came to take photos of Atomic bomb victims at the hospital. The doctors recommended to take photos of Kiyoshi's back, because his back had the worst keloidal scar. Kiyoshi refused to show his back at first, but he decided to show it to let people know what the Atomic bomb victims were suffering.

Atomic bombs and victims are seldom talked in USA. They are only talked around August 6th and 9th, the memorial days, in Japan also. Many victims already passed away after 66 years. The tragedy like this should never happen again. So, we need to inform the public about what could happen from Atomic bomb bombing and radiation. Many suffer from radiation related cancer for years and from generation to generation. This is a story about a couple. There are thousands of victims and there are many stories for each victim.

From a viewpoint of me who has created movies as a member of Film Study Club in highschool, this movie was well created. It handled the serious subject matter, Atomic bomb victims, not too serious, light touch, and easier to view for many audiences. It focused the attentions to one couple, so that was good. There were several American audience at the movie screening in Irvine, a suburb of Los Angeles last week. To screen this movie in USA, it might be better to re-record the film with English lines. So, the emotions of the victims will come arrive.

監督・脚本を手がけた出山知樹さんはNHKアナウンサー。ネット検索したら日本で人気2位の男性アナだそう。
制作者として日本映画祭ロサンゼルス2011に挨拶にかけつけた出山ひさ子さんは出山アナの奥さん。広島市出身。1994年から10年間日本放送協会関連会社でディレクターとして、ドキュメンタリー、紀行、バラエティー、音楽などさまざまな番組の制作に携わる。今回の映画では、制作主任、衣装、美術などを担当。3人のお子さんに恵まれる。

Mr. Tomoki Deyama (photo) is the director and co-writer of this film. He is also a NHK TV news anchorman. As I searched Internet, he is ranked the top 2 popular male anchorman in Japan. Ms. Hisako Deyama came to Japan Film Festival LA 2011 as a movie producer and to greet the audience. She is from Hiroshima city. She worked for 10 years as a TV director for a company related to National Broadcasting Association of Japan and made documentaries, travel journals, varieties, music, and etc. TV programs from 1994. For this movie, she was in charge of producing, costumes, and art. They have three children.

音楽を提供した佐村河内守さんは、広島原爆被爆者の両親を持つ。幼少からピアノやバイオリンの教育を受ける。17歳でこの映画に使用された『交響曲第1番』の作曲に着手。同年から原因不明の偏頭痛や聴覚障害を発症。絶対音感を頼りに作曲を続ける。特に頭鳴症による耳鳴りについて、佐村河内は「父と母が、そして歴史が聞いた『原爆の音』。それを私の血がいま、聞いているのかもしれません」と述べている。光を浴びることで偏頭痛や耳鳴りの発作が誘発されるため、自宅では暗室に籠り、外出時には光を避けるためのつばの広い帽子とサングラスを着用することを余儀なくされている。
1999年、ゲームソフト『鬼武者』の音楽「交響組曲ライジング・サン」で脚光を浴びる。

Mr.Mamoru Samuragoch composed the music "Symphony No.1" when he was 17 years old and when he started to suffer migraine headaches and hearing problems with unknown cause. He was born in Hiroshima. Both of his parents are Hiroshima Atomic bomb victims. He was taught Piano and Violin since he was 4 years old. He continued to compose music with absolute pitch although his hearing was getting worse and worse. Especially the back of his head keeps ringing in his ears. He thinks the ringing sounds must be the "sounds of the Atomic bombs" that his parents heard when they fell victims of the bombs. His conditions worsen with sunbeams, so he always wears sunglasses and a big hat when he goes out and stays in dark rooms at home. His music "Symphony Rising Sun" in the computer game "Onimusha"(Demon Warrior) got spotlights in 1999.

ロサンゼルス映画祭が4月8日から17日まで開催中。先週末4月9日土曜夜、映画『10億円稼ぐ』と『369のメトシエラ～奇跡の扉』をハリウッドの劇場で観ました。『二重被爆者』、山口つとむさんを始め7人の二重被爆者が語る映画『二重被爆』と山口彊さんが語る映画『二重被爆～語り部・山口彊の遺言』は今日4月16日アーバインで上映されます。

"Japan Film Festival LA 2011 is being held from April 8 through 17, 2011, and we went to see the movies, "The Billion Yen Jackpot" and "The Neighbor" at night on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Hollywood.

4月9日土曜日午後6時からの映画『10億円稼ぐ』を観ました。午後３時半まで仕事し、友人とハリウッドまで1時間20分かけ向かった。テリー伊藤監督制作映画。どうやったら10億円稼げるかと思案し、実行する物語。舞台は東京、ロサンゼルス、ラスベガス。

On April 9, 2011, Saturday, we saw a movie "The Billion Yen Jackpot" at New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood. The film is created and directed by Terry Ito, and it's about "How to make 1 billion yen". He thought of ideas, proceeded with them in Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

4月9日土曜日午後8時から上映された映画『369のメトシエラ～奇跡の扉』を監督・脚本・制作された小林ご兄弟の舞台挨拶がある。その模様は動画撮影。下に貼り付けます。

On April 9th, the movie "The Neighbor" was screened from 8 pm at New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood. The Kobayashi brothers who wrote, created, and directed the movie came from Japan to greet the audiences. I took a video clip of it. It's attached below.

区役所の区民課に勤める武田俊介は、一つの町に定住せず引っ越しを繰り返している。友人はおらず、行き倒れていたところを救った若い男がただ一人の友人だった。
その日、古いアパートに引っ越した俊介の耳に、隣室からふしぎな唄が聞こえ始める。日々繰り返し聞こえてくる子守唄のようなその唄に、やがて俊介は引かれ始め、そしてつき動かされるように隣室を訪ねる。
隣室には老婆がひとりすんでいた。
訪ねてきた俊介に老婆は思いもかけない一言を告げる。「自分は400年の長きを生き、唄にひかれる人間を待っていた。そして、その人間が現れたとき、自分はその人に添い遂げる」と。
一人暮らしの高齢者であることから認知症の疑いを持った俊介は、老婆の身元を探す。ところが、この老婆には、一切の公的な記録のない、どこにも存在しない人間だった…。

Shunsuke Takeda who works at the city hall repeats moving without settling down in one town. Shunsuke does not have any friends, but it came to be followed the young man whom Shunsuke saved when he was going to commit suicide. One day, He hears a mysterious song coming from the next-door apartment unit, "369." Shunsuke begins to be pulled by a lullaby hearing repeatedly every day. Shunsuke goes to the room to stop singing. There is one old woman living lonely in the room. The old woman who claims she has been waiting for 400 years to become his wife.
Assuming her to be demented, he searches her background in hopes of finding someone to take custody of her, but the old woman does not have any public records...

映画369のメトシエラ　挨拶

lisaky777--Apr 16, 2011--The movie "The Neighbor" (369のメトシエラ) was screened at Japan Film Festival Los Angeles 2011 on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 8 pm at New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood, LA, CA. The direcotors, Katsuto Kobayashi and Kenji Kobayashi greeted the audience from the stage before the movie.

この映画は黒澤明監督映画『生きる』を教科書とし、その現代版を作ったつもりだそうです。確かに、雷を共なる雨のシーン、定点カメラから人間模様を捕らえようとしているところ、アップにされた役者の表情の変化など、黒澤明監督映画っぽいです。映画は、最初主人公俊介の心の様につかみどころなくひたすら暗い。若い男性と老婆の結婚という珍しいケースを中心にストーリーが展開される。中間点ぐらいからエンディングまでは、テンポを増し明るくなる。最後は暖かい感情が湧き、ちらっと涙がこぼれた。もう一度じっくり観たいと思った。

映画終了後、DVD販売について小林監督兄弟に問い合わせたところ、アメリカでの上映を現在模索中らしく、DVD販売はそのあとになるとのことでした。

The Kobayashi brothers learned movie script writing, making, and directing from the movie "Ikiru (To Live)" co-written and directed by Akira Kurosawa. They thought they made a modern version of "Ikiru" by Kurosawa. Indeed, the movie "The Neighbor" starts out dark as if it expressed the feeling of the leading role, Shunsuke. The story involves with a marriage between a young man and an old lady who is old enough to be his grandmother. From the mid point, it picked up the up-tempo rhythm. It was heart warming at the end and tears dropped a little for many audience. I want to see it again.

After the movie, the Kobayashi brothers greeted us again at the lobby. I asked about the DVDs of the movie. They replied they are trying to screen the movie "The Neighbor" in USA market soon, so the DVDs will not be released until after that.

さて今日はアーバインで12時から『二重被爆Ⅰ』、2時15分から『二重被爆～語り部・山口彊の遺言』を観る予定です。稲塚監督の講演もあるそうです。

Today we will go watch the movies ""Twice Bombed, Twice Survived" from 12 pm and "Twice Bombed The Legacy of Yamaguchi Tsutomu" from 2:15 pm in Irvine. Director Hidetaka Inazuka is scheduled to appear.

4月17日に上映される『ミツバチの羽音と地球の回転』は山口県上関原発建設に28年間反対してきた祝島の住民とスエーデンで代替自然エネルギーに取り組む住人のお話。これも観にいきたい。

"Ashes to Honey" will be screened on April 17, 2011 in Irvine. For 28 years, the people of Iwaishima Island living in the middle of the bountiful sea have been against a plan to build a nuclear power plant. The island has 1000 years history and the people there have maintained their life and culture including their traditional festival. I want to see this movie also.

ロサンゼルス映画祭開催のお知らせ。4月8日から17日まで。BBCテレビ局がジョークにした『二重被爆者』、山口つとむさんを始め7人の二重被爆者が語る映画『二重被爆』と山口彊さんが語る映画『二重被爆～語り部・山口彊の遺言』は4月16日アーバインで上映されます。先月ＮＹで海外初公開され、2度目の海外上映です。

"Japan Film Festival LA 2011" will be held from April 8 through 17, 2011, and it will present ""Twice Bombed, Twice Survived" movies about people bombed twice by U.S.atomic bombs both in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan in August, 1945.　BBC TV joked about Mr.Tsutomu Yamaguchi as "Unluckiest Man in the world." in January 2011. He will appear on both movies.

29歳の時二重被爆。最愛の息子さんを原爆病で亡くし、90歳から93歳で亡くなるまで、語り部としての役目を果たした山口つとむさん。2010年1月4日逝去。2009年12月、あのジェームス・キャメロン監督も山口さんの病室を訪れ、原爆映画制作の話を持ちかけたそう。山口さんの口癖は、"One for all. All for one."　「ひとりは皆のために。皆はひとりのために。」

Tsutomu Yamaguchi was bombed twice by atomic bombs when he was 29. He lost his beloved son from Radiation related cancer. He became an outspoken proponent of nuclear disarmament with his personal experiences.  His motto was "One for All, All for One". Just before passing away from cancer, Mr. Yamaguchi entrusted film director James Cameron to make visualization about his atomic bomb experience, leaving his last words of "I have done my duty".

I could not find any English version of the movie "Twice Bombed Twice Survived" video clip, but I found one in Spanish or Portuguese.

二重被爆の生存者は140名以上居たそうです。玄米、天然塩、味噌、梅干など日本古来からの食事が放射能の解毒に役立ったとか。原爆生存者の健康法について、後日もっと詳しく調べて記事アップします。福島原発事故で放射能が拡散している今、私たちが先人に学ぶことはたくさんあります。

There were more than 140 survivors of Twice Bombed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They mentioned eating Brown Rice, Natural Salt, Miso Soy Bean Paste, Pickled Plum helped detoxing radiation from the atomic bombs. I will do more research and write about those healthy foods on my blog later. We need to learn a lot from the elders who survived. Especially now there is a radiation threat every where from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accidents.

２月27日夕刻第83回アカデミー賞授賞式が開催されました。ハリウッドの『コダック劇場』にて。

"83rd Academy Award" presentation ceremony was held at "Kodak Theater", Hollywood, Los Angeles in evening on February 27, 2011.

「英国王のスピーチ」と「ザ・ソーシャルネットワーク」の一騎打ちでした。下馬評どうり、「英国王のスピーチ」が作品賞、監督賞、脚本賞、主演男優賞の4冠達成。

It was a battle between "King's Speech" and "The Social Network". As the same as the critiques' projections, "King's Speech" won the best picture, best director, best script, and best actor--4 crowns.

「ザ・ソーシャルネットワーク」は脚色賞、作曲賞、編集賞の3部門で受賞。

"The Social Network" won the best screenplay writing, best music writing, and best editing--3 categories.

「ザ・ソーシャルネットワーク」は世界最大SNS「フェースブック」誕生物語。

"The Social Network" tells how "Facebook", the largest SNS in the world started.

放映時間を2時間に短縮するため、会話部分を全て早回ししたらしく、会話がめちゃ早です！これにどう日本語や外国語字幕を付けるのか、興味しんしんです。。。

In order to shorten the movie playing time to 2 hours, all conversation scenes were fast forwarded during the editing. So, all the conversations are super fast! I'm curious how they will add subtitles in Japanese or other foreign languages.....

"King's Speech" is the true story of a British King, George VI. Colin Firth won the best actor.

「ブラック・スワン」のナタリー・ポートマンが主演女優賞受賞。10ヶ月間バレーの特訓し、振り付け士とゴールイン。もうすぐ出産予定とか。

"Black Swan"'s Natalie Portman won the best actress award. She trained ballet for the role for 10 months and got married to the choreographer. She is expecting a baby soon.

「ザ・ファイター」のメリッサ・レオとクリスチャンベールが助演女優賞と助演男優賞を受賞。

"The Fighter"'s Melissa Leo and Christian Bale won the best supporting actress and best supporting actor awards.



アカデミー賞授賞式の2晩前、近所のラルフス・スーパーマーケット前の「レッド・ボックス」で「ザ・ソーシャルネットワーク」のＤＶＤを1ドルで借りました。ブロ友のわにさんが良く利用するとブログに書いてた自動レンタル機です。1日＄１。

Two nights before the Academy Award, I rented "The Social Network" DVD from "Red Box", a DVD rental machine at Ralph's Super Market near by. My blog friend Wani mentioned she gets movie rentals from Red Box often on her blog. It's $1 per DVD per night.

「レッドボックス」は、アルバートソン、セブンイレブン、などあちこち全米24900箇所にキオスク・マシーンあるらしいです。ブルーレイは1泊$1.50。コンピューターゲームもあります。1泊＄２とか。

"Red Box" has kiosk machines at 24,900 locations in USA, at Ralph's, Alberson, 7-Eleven, etc. Blu-lay rental is $1.50 per night. Computer Games are available at $2 per night.

サウスコースト植物園で見つけた薔薇「情熱的なキス」。ロス郊外ランチョＰＶにあります。映画の名キスシーンを思い浮かべてみました。先週日曜1月16日はゴールデン・グローブ賞授賞式でしたね。

映画『442』が7月31日サンペドロ市ワーナーグランド劇場で11 am、 2 pm、5 pmから上映され、２時の上映会を見て来ました。今現地時間７月31日午後７時42分。少し前に帰宅したところです。途中半ばから涙ボロボロ。感動しました！

"Movie 442～Live with Honor, Die with Dignity～" was shown from 11 am, 2 pm, and 5 pm Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, CA. I saw the 2 pm show and came back a few hours ago. I could not stop weeping from the middle of the movie. It was a great movie

第二次世界大戦中、米国第442連隊戦闘団は日系アメリカ人２世と３世で編成された部隊。
半分はハワイ出身。あと半分は米国本土の強制収容所からの出兵。
イタリア、ドイツ、南フランスの第一線に送られ、自主的に活躍し戦死者多数。!
その激闘ぶりはのべ死傷率314%（のべ死傷者数9,486人）という数字が雄弁に物語っている。

アメリカ合衆国の歴史上、その規模中で最も活躍し最高名誉メダルを最も多く授与した連隊。21人が同名誉メダル受賞。その記録は、まだ塗り替えられてないそうです。

彼ら日系兵士の口癖は、
「家族の恥にならないように、祖国（アメリカ）と家族のために最善を尽したい。」

The 442nd Infantry, formerly the 442nd Regimental Combat Team of the United States Army, was composed of Japanese Americans who fought in Europe during World War II. Half of them came forward to enlist the army from Hawaii, and the other half came from the internment camps. The families of many its soldiers were subject to internment. The 442nd was a self-sufficient fighting force, and fought with uncommon distinction in Italy, southern France, and Germany.

The unit became the most highly decorated regiment in the history of the United States Armed Forces, including 21 Medal of Honor recipients.

It had the most causalities in the U.S. Army history with total killed and injured rate of 314 percent (9,486 men).

Each Japanese American 442nd Infantry soldier kept saying, "I don't want to be the shame of my family. I want to do my best for my family and my home country (United States of America)."

第442連隊戦闘団の活躍のおかげでドイツ軍から開放されたイタリア、南フランス、ナチス・ホロコースト収容所ユダヤ系生存者とその家族らは、未だに第442連隊への感謝を忘れない。

イタリアのある街が数年前、第442連隊生存者を迎え式典を行った。
「自分の祖国（アメリカ）に差別されながらも勇敢に戦った彼らの活躍のおかげで、私は生きている。彼らはヒーロー以上のヒーローだ。」と讃えるシーンがあります。その辺りからもう涙が止まりませんでした。。


Those survivors who were liberated from German occupation in Italy, southern France, and Nazi holocaust concentration camps still do not forget to appreciate the 442nd Infantry for their courageous acts.

In a town of Italy, several years ago, they held an annual celebration of the liberation from Germany and invited the 442nd Infantry veterans.
Many who survived mentioned, "They fought very courageously to save us in a land where they did not know and when they were discriminated in their own home county (United States of America). We lived because of them. They are more than heroes. "

From that scene, tears kept pouring and did not stop until the end of the movie.

彼らの活躍と犠牲のおかげで、その後アメリカに住む日系人やアジア系アメリカ人への差別が減りました。1964年まで日本出身者と中国出身者には、永住権やアメリカ市民権を申請する権利さえ与えられていませんでした。また弁護士、医者、会計士を含むあらゆる国家試験を受験する権利も与えられませんでした。

第二次世界大戦中収容所に入れられた日系人の3分の２以上は、アメリカ生まれの、生まれながらのアメリカ市民である二世と三世でした。アメリカ合衆国憲法違反の大統領命令でした。


Thanks to achievements and sacrifices made by the 442nd Infantry, discrimination against Japanese American and Asian American reduced in U.S.A. Until 1964, those who came from Japan and China did not have right to apply for U.S.permanent residency and U.S.citizenship. Also, they did not have right to apply for national licensing board exams, including for attorneys, medical doctors, and CPA's (Certified Public Accountants).

Over two thirds of the Japanese American who were sent to Internment camps in United States were Nisei (second generation) and Sansei (third generation), U.S. citizens by birth. It was an order from the U.S.presiden and a violation of U.S. constitution.

マウイ映画祭での観客特別賞受賞に引き続き、東京国際映画祭に正式招待が決定。ハワイでは一番人気のワード１６というホノルルの映画館で9月10日から公開予定だそうです。
The movie received "Audience Special Award" from Maui film festival. It received a formal invitation from Tokyo International Film Festival. In Honolulu, Hawaii, the movie will be shown at the most popular movie theater, "Ward 16" from September 10, 2010.

日本での公開は東京国際映画祭のすぐ後、11月20日から新宿 のK’sシネマで封切りされる。
またNHKが８月２日の週（まだ放送日未定）朝６時の後半に「おはよう日本」で「442」の映画について放送される予定だそう。

In Japan, it will be shown from November 20, 2010, right after Tokyo International Film Festival at K's Cinema in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Also NHK, Japanese national TV station. It will be aired on the week of August 2, 2010 in "Ohayo Japan" between 6 am and 7 am, probably a later half. They will introduce the movie "442".

現在8月1日午前2時です。書き始めてから5－6時間中座してました。

当時の日系人の苦悩は、山崎豊子さん原作小説「二つの祖国」とそのＮＨＫ大河ドラマ「山河燃ゆ」、すずきじゅんいち監督の前作「東洋のカメラ」(Toyo's Camera)に詳しく描かれています。

私のブログの冒頭"DREAM ON@LA 昔記者志望"は、はったりではなく、ロス留学に来て間もない頃、この「二つの祖国」の主人公天羽賢治が働いていたとされる「加州新報」（実名は加州毎日新聞)と、貴重な日系人の収容所生活を写真で隠し撮りし記録した「東洋宮武写真館」でヘルプしてました。
映画『442』がアメリカと日本で多くの人に観られる事を、切実に願います。

You can see the hardships experienced by Japanese American during WWII by reading Toyoko Yamasaki's novel "Two Homelands" and director Junichi Suzuki's previous film, "Toyo's Camera".

As a young student who came to Los Angeles from Japan to study, I volunteered at "California Daily News" where the hero, Kenji Amou of "Two Homelands" worked as a writer and at Toyo Miyatake Studio.　(In the novel, it said Kenji Amou worked for "Kashu Shimpo".)
I sincerely hope many people in USA and Japan will watch this movie "442".

すずきじゅんいち監督にメールしたところ、返事をすぐいただきました。福岡の友人が福岡でも上映して欲しいと云ってたので、その件を質問しました。

I emailed the director, Junichi Suzuki, and asked if they could show the movie "442" in Fukuoka, Japan, because one of my friends in Fukuoka wanted to watch this movie.
The director Junichi Suzuki replied, "Thanks for your email. I'm happy that many people watch this movie. I believe there will be some positive values for the viewers of this movie. If your friend in Fukuoka, Japan, can send emails, etc. to an independently run movie theater directly as a request from a customer, it might be possible that this movie can be seen in that city. Thank you, and best regards."

この映画『442』に登場するダニエル・イノウエ米国上院議院(ハワイ州)の祖父は福岡県八女郡出身です。2008年9月に南加福岡県人会100周年記念式典が行われ、来られました。この442部隊の半分はハワイ州出身。ハワイの日系移民は沖縄県と福岡県からの移民者が多いそう。福岡、沖縄、それから他の多くの都市で観ていただきたいです。

U.S.Senator, Daniel Inouye (Hawaii) appeared in the movie as a 442 veteran. His grand father was from Fukuoka, Japan. He came to the 100th anniversary party of Southern California Fukuoka Kenjin-kai Association in September, 2008. The half of the 442nd Infantry were from Hawaii. Many people from Okinawa and Fukuoka, Japan, migrated to Hawaii over 120 years ago. I hope this movie "442" can be seen by many people in Fukuoka, Okinawa, and many other cities.

日本では現在、劇場公開中なのでまだDVDの発売は先となります。
多分３ヶ月先に一般に発売されるでしょう。

アメリカからも送れると思いますが、送料などがかなりかかってしまいます。

5月22日には静岡駅前のお寺が経営する映画館で、無料の試写会があります。
我々も参加する予定です。

先週末、ワシントンＤＣで同映画の上映会があり、マイミクさんがすずきじゅんいち監督のお隣の席で映画をみたらしく、この情報を教えてくれました。西日本新聞にも近いうちに掲載されるそうです。

すずきじゅんいち監督の映画『442～名誉と共に生き、威厳と共に死ぬ』が7月31日サンペドロで上映されます。7月25日リトル東京で上映され絶賛を浴び、カリフォルニア州数箇所、ハワイ、東京などで限定上映される予定だそう。

Movie "442～Live with Honor, Die with Dignity" will be shown in San Pedro this Saturday, July 31, 2010. It was shown at Little Tokyo, Los Angeles on July 25, 2010, and received great reviews. It will be shown in some limited locations in California, Hawaii, and Tokyo.

映画『442』が7月31日サンペドロ市のワーナーグランド劇場にて11 am、 2 pm、5 pmから上映されます。

友人セツコさんに来たすずきじゅんいち監督からのメールによれば、8月15日ー19日以外は、すずきじゅんいち監督と奥様の榊原るみさんが映画上映される全ての劇場に一日中いらっしゃるそうです。

映画「４４２」報告 / Movie "442" Update
皆様、映画「４４２」では色々お世話になっております。ありがとうございます。
7/25日無事リトル東京で公開初日を済ませました。
１回目と３回目は約７００名、２回目はソールドアウトとなり大変盛況でした。
公開した日米文化会館の方からもわざわざメールを頂き、観客の皆さんが非常に満足度の高い感動の映画だと口々におっしゃって いた、とご報告を頂きました。
Thanks for your support for the movie "442". The first day was done successfully in Little Tokyo on July 25, 2010. There were 700 viewers each on the first and third show and second show was sold out. The Aratani Japan America Theater sent me an email saying all viewers mentioned the movie was great, satisfactory, and very moving.

マウイ映画祭での観客特別賞受賞に引き続き、本日、東京国際映画祭に正式招待が決定したとの連絡が日本からありました。ハワイでは一番人気のワード１６というホノルルの映画館での公開も９月１０日から始まる事になりました。
The movie received "Audience Special Award" from Maui film festival. Today, it received a formal invitation from Tokyo International Film Festival. In Honolulu, Hawaii, the movie will be shown at the most popular movie theatre, Ward 16" from September 10, 2010.

日本での公開は東京国際映画祭のすぐ後、11月20日から新宿 のK’sシネマで封切りが決定しています。
また連日のようにNHKの取材を受けておりまして、８月の２日の週に（まだ放送日未定）朝６時の後半に「おはよう日本」で「４４２」の映画について放送されるようです。

In Japan, it will be shown from November 20, 2010, right after Tokyo International Film Festival at K's Cinema in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Also I did an interview with NHK, Japanese national TV station. It will be aired on the week of August 2, 2010 in "Ohayo Japan" between 6 am and 7 am, probably a later half. They will introduce the movie "442".

７月22日と23日には、ロスの地方局KTLA（5チャンネル）で4、5分に渡り、映画「442」の紹介がありました。
Local TV station KTLA (channel 5) introduced the movie "442" for 4 to 5 minutes on July 22 and 23.

すずきじゅんいち監督に今日メールしたところ、返事をすぐいただきました。静岡在住の方が映画「442」のDVDの購入先またはアメリカから送付してくれるところを教えて欲しいとコメントあり、質問しました。

日本では現在、劇場公開中なのでまだDVDの発売は先となります。
多分３ヶ月先に一般に発売されるでしょう。

アメリカからも送れると思いますが、送料などがかなりかかってしまいます。

5月22日には静岡駅前のお寺が経営する映画館で、無料の試写会があります。
我々も参加する予定です。

昨日映画『セックス・アンド・ザ・シティ2』を観ました。5月27日から全米公開。先週日本滞在中この映画を何度もバラエティー番組で紹介していたので、ロス帰国後すぐ観に行きました。6月4日から日本公開予定。

"Sex and the city 2" Movie: I saw it yesterday. Last week while I was in Japan, the movie was featured on several variety shows, so I wanted to watch it soon after I returned to Los Angeles. It's released on May 27, 2010 in USA and June 4, 2010 in Japan.

　ニューヨークを舞台に恋に仕事に友情に生きる4人の女性の本音を大胆に描き、世界中の女性たちを熱狂させたＴＶドラマ『セックス・アンド・ザ・シティ』の続編。ハッピーエンドで終わった前映画から2年後を舞台に、4人のヒロインたちの激変した生活を映し出す。カリスマ・スタイリストのパトリシア・フィールドが手掛ける200着以上の有名ブランドファッションにも注目されている。

前映画では、主人公キャリーが往年の恋人ビックと結婚するシーンが主軸だった。今回はキャリーの友人の豪華な結婚式から始まる。最初から笑いとせつなさと全開で飛ばしっぱなし。子供を持たず2人で生活するつもりのキャリーとビッグは、これからどう2人だけで向き合っていくか悩む。お持ち帰り料理と古い白黒映画を寝室で観るのが好きな夫。キャリーはいつまでもパーティーガールで居たい。

シャーロットは「テリブル2歳」の次女と格闘中。ミランダは知的でパワフルな女性部下と上手く接することができない新しいボスと格闘中。サマンサは元彼つながりの仕事を利用し、全経費相手持ちの豪華アブダビ旅行に4人全員ででかける。そこでの数々のトラブルも面白い。

These movies are sequel to "Sex and the city" popular TV drama series. Two years have passed since Carrie Bradshaw finally bagged John "Mr. Big" Preston, the man she was always meant to be with, to marry her. Carrie must deal with her relationship taking a turn for the worse - Big likes to watch old black-and-white movies on TV and eat take-out food, which prevents Carrie from feeling like the free-wheeling party girl she used to be.

Her friend Charlotte must deal with her young daughter's "terrible two's. Meanwhile, Miranda copes with a new boss that can't handle an intelligent, powerful woman, and Samantha works a public relations angle that gets the fashionable foursome an all-expense-paid trip to Abu Dhabi. There are some troubles in Abu Dhabi, and they are funny!

6月4日からの日本公開に先立ち5月30日4人のメインキャストが成田に到着したそう。サラ・ジェシカ・パーカー、キム・キャトラル、クリスティン・デイヴィス、シンシア・ニクソンの4人が勢ぞろいで訪日したのは初めて。成田空港に降り立ったサラは「日本に来られて、とっても、とってもハッピーよ!!」とコメントしながら、笑顔で通路を歩いて行ったらしい。

On May 30, 2010, four main casts of "Sex and the City 2" arrived at Narita Airport to promote the movie before the movie release in Japan on June 4, 2010. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall. Sarah told the reporter, "I'm very very happy to visit Japan!", and smiled while she was walking in the hallways after she arrived at Narita Airport.

　マイケル・パトリック・キング監督も一緒に来日した。 31日に六本木で行われる来日記者会見と、6月1日、六本木ヒルズ・アリーナで800人のファンを招待して行われるジャパンプレミアのレッドカーペットイベントへの出席を予定しているそう。

The director, Michael Patrick King, also came to Japan with them. They are scheduled to attend a press conference in Roppongi, Tokyo, on May 31, 2010 and a Japan Red Carpet Premier event with 800 invited fans at Roppongi Hills Arena on June 1, 2010.

わりと面白いと思いました。アメリカの映画評論家の批評は10点中3.8点と辛口です。もともと笑い中心のロマンスコメディーなので、笑えればいいと思うのですが。。。!？5月27日ー29日3日間の興行成績は46.3ミリオンドル(約42億円）と前作の最初の3日間の57ミリオンドル（約52億円）より不調。

I thought it's funny and entertaining, but American movie critiques gave 3.8 out of 10 points--low rating. Well, it's a romance comedy drama, so it's good if you can laugh a lot....It sold $46.3 million worth of tickets during its first three days of release across North America, falling far short of the opening round for the first film in the series, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday. "Sex and the City I" earned $57 million in its first three days two years ago.

現地時間3月7日夕方第82回アカデミー賞授賞式が開催されます。ロサンゼルス市ハリウッド『コダック劇場』にて。ウエッブキャストはアメリカ西部時間午後3時半(東部時間午後6時半から)とか。ＴＶはABC-7チャンネルで放送されます。

"The 82nd Oscar Academy Award" presentation ceremony will be held at "Kodak Theater", Hollywood, Los Angeles in evening on March 7, 2010. The webcast starts from 3:30 pm Pacific and 6:30 pm East Coast at local time. TV program will be aired on ABC-7 channel.

Yesterday afternoon, I saw a Japanese golfer, Shigeki Maruyama, at A Golf Club in Los Angeles South Bay. He was teaching golf to his son at the Driving Range. His wife was there as well. I was practicing golf 12 yards away at the driving range.

After returning home, I kept watching the official movie trailer.
I saw it at AMC Torrance Del Amo 18 from 11:30 AM at $6. This movie is a special release, so you cannot use discount movie tickets. All shows starting in AM at AMC theatres are $6. It's not crowded, so it's pretty good to watch it from AM.

2008年春、カナダのバンド「ソンズ・オブ・マクセル」は1週間のコンサートツアーでネブラスカに行く際ユナイテッド航空を利用。シカゴの手荷物運搬係が3500ドルのテイラー制ギターを放り投げて壊した。数ヶ月経た。壊した事実は認めたけれど賠償は一切してくれなかった。航空会社に訴えても無駄なことがわかったので、ユーチューブビデオを制作したらしい。

ユナイテッド航空はこのユーチューブ動画を社員教育に使うつもりらしい。

歌がヒットして何より！　今後直接消費者に訴えるこの手の動画が増えると予想されます。

In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and the band's Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. The $3500 guitar was severely damaged. Several months passed. The United Airline admitted the damage occoured but no compensation was made. It was obvious that it was waisting time to go after the Airline, then "Sons of Maxwell" made this music video.

The United Airline plans to use the video clip for employee training.

It's great that the song became a big hit. From now on, many will follow the case and make this kind of videos to appeal to the consumers directly.

昨夕「Shin沖縄居酒屋」行きました。でも予約客で満席で１時間半待ちと云われ、翌晩用に予約入れてきました。食べ放題$15のコースだけ、飲み放題$15コースだけ、または両方を選択できるみたいです。

Last evening I went to "Shin Okinawa Izakaya" but I was told it's full with reservation and it will be one and a half hour wait. So, I made a reservation for next night and left there. You can select only "All-you-can eat" course at $15 or "All-you-can-drink" course at $15 or both at $30.

　　今日6月12日から全米のＴＶ局はデジタル放送のみでアナログ放送を中止します。夜中12時から始まるのかと思いずっと徹夜で起きてます。今午前4時前です。どうもアナログ放送中止は朝5時のニュース番組からのようです。

Going Digital in USA-6/12/09:
From Today, 6/12/2009, Analog TV broadcasting will stop across the United States. It's switched to digital broadcasting only. I have been staying up all night, because I thought it will go digital from 12 midnight. It's around 4 AM now, but they are still airing analog broadcasting. It seems they will stop analog broadcasting from 5 AM morning news.

デジタル放送は今年2月17日からメジャーＴＶステーションを中心に始まりました。アナログＴＶのままデジタル放送を見るのには、コンバーターボックス（安いのは1台$50ぐらい）の設置が必要です。申請すれば、政府が各家庭に2枚ずつ$40のコンバーターボックス商品券を配布しました。

我が家では1月にそれを入手し、コンバーターボックスを購入しました。デジタル放送義務日が2月17日から6月12日に延期されたのでしばらく放置していましたが、3月末に設置し、デジタル放送を観るようになりました。

Digital Broadcasting started from 2/17/09 among the major TV stations. In order to get digital TV signal with analog TVs, you will need to install a "Converter Box" (a cheap one starts from $50). The government mailed 2 each of $40 converter box gift cards to each household upon request.

At my house, we received the gift cards and purchased converter boxes in January 2009. But we did not install the converter boxes for a while because the deadline to go digital was postponed from 2/17/09 to 6/12/09. We installed the converter boxes and started to watch digital TV broadcasting in March 2009.

ケーブルＴＶや衛星放送ＴＶ契約している家庭では、コンバーターボックスがなくてもデジタル放送が映ります。またＨDTＶ（ハイ・ディフィニションＴＶ）はディジタルに対応しているので映ります。

デジタル放送は画像が鮮明ですが、「オールまたはナッシング。」電波が弱いと画像がフリーズしたり、全く映らなくなります。私の家はレドンドビーチの海から2キロ沖合いで丘陵のふもとの方です。アナログで良く映った7チャン（ABC），9チャン（KCAL)、11チャン(FOX)が映らなくなりました。

6月12日以降ＴＶの電波受信を「リスキャン」すると映るようになるチャンネルもあるそう。
果たしてこれらのチャンネルが映るようになることか？

If you subscribe to Cable TV or Satellite Dish TV, you can watch digital broadcasting without the converter boxes. Also if you have a HDTV (High Definition TV), it will receive digital signals.

Digital broadcasting offers very clear images, but it's "All or Nothing." When the reception signal is weak, the images get frozen or nothing will appears on TV. My house is located 1.4 miles (2.2 Km) away from the beach in Redondo Beach and located at a food of a hill. Some channels such as 7 (ABC), 9 (KCAL), and 11(FOX), have problems with digital, although the images were good on Analog broadcasting on these channels.

They recommend "rescanning" TV signal reception after 6/12/09. I wonder if the signal reception on these channels will improve or not.

追記/Update:
6月13日土に「リスキャン」すると、７（ABC），９（KCAL），11（FOX）チャンネルが映るようになりました。その代わり、２（CBS）チャンネルが映らなくなりました。18-2(UTB)チャンネルでは日本のドラマなどが毎晩放送されています。１年以上古く英語の字幕付き。木曜９時が「相棒」、金曜９時が「流星の絆」、他に「ブラッディー・マンデー」など。

As we re-scanned on 6/13/09, channel 7(ABC), ９（KCAL），11（FOX）, and 13 became viewable, but channel ２（CBS） gets no signal and became unavailable. Channel 18-2(UTB) broadcasts Japanese dramas that are more than a year old with English subtitles. Thursday 9 PM is "Partners (Aibou)", Friday 9 PM is "Bonds of Meteorites (Ryusei no Kizuna)," "Bloody Monday " on another night, etc.

デジタル化すると例えば４チャンネルが4-1、4-2、4-3、4-4、５チャンネルも5-1、5-2，5-3、5-4などとチャンネル数が増えました。私の家で映るデジタル放送は60チャンネル。2チャンネルや22チャンネルも映るようになるとロサンゼルス近郊では全部で７０チャンネルは映ることになります。かなりの局数です。ケーブルＴＶや衛星放送を契約すると100チャンネル～500チャンネルは映るそう。

As it went digital, number of channels increased such as, 4 channel became channel 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, and 4-4, channel 5 became 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, and so on. We get signal of 60 channels at our house. If channel 2 and 22 become available, here will be more than 70 channels available in Los Angeles suburbs. It's quite large number of channels. I heard people who subscribes to Cable TV or Satellite TV gets reception of 100 to 500 channels or more.

　　５月28日11時35分ＰＭからの『Tonight Show with Jay Leno』を見た。2時間前に木曜の放送が終わり、いよいよ今晩5月29日金曜11時35分ＰＭがジェイ・レノ司会の最終番組となる。

　　 I watched "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" from 11:35 PM on May 28, 2009. It just finished 2 hours ago for Thursday's show. Finally, tonight from 11:35 PM on Friday, May 29, 2009, the last show with Jay Leno will be aired.

ゲストはコメディアンで俳優のビリー・クリスタル。ジョークを交えた雑談は、ビリー・クリスタルがゴルフ中に腰を痛めた後しばらくのトイレの話。

その後ビリー・クリスタルが、ジェイ・レノを惜しむ歌を披露。

『ジェイが去ったら一番恋しい（ミスする）のは、ジェイのアゴ。』
『ジェイは数台のマスタング、フェラーリ、ランボロギーニ、ホンダ６４、ジャガー、ベントレーなど100台以上所有する車狂。』
『ジェイは下にお引越し。今秋から10時プライムタイムの新番組に登場する予定。』


The guest was Billy Crystal. Billy talked about his Cirque de Toilet after he hurt his back while playing a golf game with jokes.

Then, Billy Crystal performed a song dedicated to Jay Leno, "How we will miss Jay" or that sort.

"What we will miss Jay the most is........his CHIN!"
"Jay has a couple of each of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mustang, Honda 64, Jaggier, Bentley, and etc.,for over 100 cars for his hobby."
"Jay is moving DOWN. He is moving down to Prime Time 10 from this Fall."


そして音楽ゲストとして歌手のプリンス登場。

今晩最終回のゲストは、6月からホストを務めるコナン・オブライエンと歌手のジェームス・テーラーの予定。

Then a singer "Prince" appeared as a music guest.

Tonight for the last show, the guests will be Conan O'brien who will succeed this show from June 2009 and a singer James Taylor.

17年間月曜から金曜までショーのホストお疲れさまでした。

Thanks Jay for hosting the show on Monday to Friday for 17 years.

　　2日前の『アメリカンアイドル』2009年フィナーレ良かったですね～。勝敗は別として、豪華ゲストの数々。。。キス、カーロス・サンタナ、スティーブ・マーティン、クイーン、ロッド・スチュアートが35分ないに次々登場。

American Idol 2009 Finale:
Did you watch "American Idol 2009 Finale part 2" TV show? It was great. Despite who was the winner, there were gorgeous guest performers, such as, KISS, Carlos Santana, Steve Martin, Queen, and Rod Stewart, and they appeared and performed within 35 minutes.

このフィナーレ火曜日夜に最終2名の歌のパフォーマンスがあり、視聴者が電話投票し、翌日水曜日に豪華ゲストやファイナル13名のコンサートがあり、最後の5分で優勝者が発表されました。今回フィナーレに集まったのは投票は1億票。史上最高記録とか。

2009年『アメリカン・アイドル』優勝はアンダードッグでダークホースのクリス・アレンでした。アダム・ランバートとファンにとっては残念な結果となりました。

For the Finale, there were performances by the top 2 contestants on Tuesday night, and viewers voted by phone. Next day, on Wednesday' night, there was a Finale part 2 with guest performers and the top 13 contestants. The winner was announced at the last 5 minute of the finale. There were over 100 million votes casted for this Finale, and it was the record in history.

2009 "American Idol" winner is Kris Allen, who was a under-dog and a dark horse. For Adam Lambert and his fans, it was a disappointing ending.

昼過ぎ、歯医者でクリーニングしてもらった。ハイジーニストの携帯が何度か鳴り、慌てて電話に出てました。とってもエキサイトしている彼女。

なんと今晩の『アメリカン・アイドル』ＴＶ収録の観客チケット3枚もらえたそう。16歳の娘さんとだんなさんと3人で行く、と嬉しそうに語ってました。

American Idol-Top 3:
This afternoon I went to get a dental cleaning at my dentist's office. My hygienist got some phone calls during the cleaning. She got so excited.
She got 3 tickets to see "American Idol " show TV recording tonight.
She told me she is going there with her 16-year-old daughter and her husband.

今シーズン終了真じか。
残りあと3人のアイドル候補。今日1人落とされ、残り2人から来週優勝者が決定します。
『アメリカン・アイドル』ショーの公開ＴＶ収録は、オスカー・アカデミー賞授与式が行われるハリウッドのコダック劇場。

The current Season 8 will end soon. There are only 3 top 3 contestants left. They will vote for another tonight. The final winner of the season will be decided next week.

The recording of the "American Idol" TV show is held at "Kodak Theatre" in Hollywood. That is the theatre Oscar/Academy Awards are presented.
