Torrance Symphony Concert トーレンス交響楽団コンサート

There was a free Torrance Symphony Orchestra concert, "International Musica" on Saturday, 1/19/08 at Armstrong Theatre, Civic Center, Torrance, CA. The Torrance Symphony Orchestra Association members could enter from 7 PM to listen to a lecture of the conductor Frank Paul Fetta. And the concert started from 8 PM and ended at 9:55 PM. The night's performance was as follows:

1. Sibelius: Symphony #5
2. Prokofiev: Piano Concerto # 3 (2nd and 3rd movements)
with piano soloist Valerie Stern (Young Artists Recognition Recipient)
3. Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue (click for sample music)
with piano solist Khoa Huynh (Young Artists Concert competition winner)

The last piece, "Rhapsody in Blue" was used as an ending theme song of a Japanese anime turned TV drama serries, "Nodame Cantabile". It was a standing ovation at the end.

トーレンス交響楽団の無料コンサートが1/19/08日トーレンス シビック センター内アームストロング劇場で行われた。トーレンス交響楽団支援メンバーは午後7時から入場でき指揮者フェタ氏の話がきける。一般は8時前に入場。（8時前まで外で並んだ否会員は全くの無料で演奏を楽しめる。）コンサートは8時開演。

シベリウスの交響曲5番が演奏され、休憩をはさみプロコフィエフのピアノコンサート3番をトーレンス交響楽団主催音楽コンテスト青年部特別勝受賞者バレリー スターンのソロピアノとともに演奏。

最後の曲ガーシュウィンの[ラプソディ・イン・ブルー]はトーレンス交響楽団主催音楽コンテストジュニアピアノ部門優勝者コア ヒュン君12歳のピアノとともに演奏された。この曲はまんがをTVドラマ化した[のだめカンタービレ]のエンディングテーマ曲としても知られる。10時前に終わり観客総立ちだった。

It was a standing ovation after the concert.

Maroon 5 Live in LA コンサート

　　11月8日(木)ダウンタウンＬＡのステープルセンターにMaroon 5のコンサートを同僚と見に行った。コンサートは最高でした。
私の席は3階3列目。特別割引20ドルでした。通常40ドル。一階席や2階、3階のステージ近くは56ドルでした。割りと安め。
　前座のWarm-up Band２組登場。
１）午後8時から"Phantom Planet"登場。
　　元気なロック演奏を20分披露。頑張ってるがまだうまくない。
２）10分間楽器の入れ替え後、2組目"The Hives"登場。 午後8時半。
　　ボーカルが飛んだり跳ねたり走ったりしながら低めの声で、ミック・ジャガーっぽく歌う。最初はかっこいいと思ったが、途中からあきてうるさく感じた25分でした。

ステージの組み換えのあと、待ちに待った"Maroon 5"登場したのは、午後9時30分。かっこいー！

10時20分まで演奏し、一旦楽屋に引っ込む。
アンコールのあとドラマーのマットが出てきて演奏。
リードボーカルのアダムが出てきてドラマーとドラム競演。
徐々に他メンバーも出てきて、10時55分まで熱演した 。

1990年代にアダムのロスのマリブの自宅でバンド練習を始めた。
ロサンゼルスは彼らの故郷。
Maroon 5のコンサートは洗練されてて演奏も上手で、最高でした！

　Maroon 5 concert at Staples Center in LA was great!
It was on Thursday, 11/8/2007.　
My seat was on 3rd row on the 3rd deck. It was specially discounted at $20 plus fees ($28.50). The seats were $40/$56 plus fees, pretty reasonable.

There were 2 warm-up bands. "Phantom Planet" played from 8 to 8:20 PM, and "The Hives" played from 8:30 PM to 8:55 PM.

After stage and equipments set up, the Maroon 5 appeared at 9:30 PM. They played until 10:22 PM without break. They went back stage. After 3 to 4 minutes, the drummer (Matt) came out and started to play his drum, and lead vocal and guitar (Adam) appeared and played another drum set together. He was quite good at drum, too. Then the rest of the members appeard and played until 10:55 PM.

I was able to take some photos and a few video clips using movie mode on the digital camera. I will upload some below.
